3 years worth of experience as a career shifter (Software Engineer) 1 year in IBM(deployed contractor) 8 months (don sa company ko talaga) 1 year and 6months(Japan)
I am currently 26 years old who's probably experiencing midlife crisis.
I am a career shifter, Business administration course ko when I was college, and 6 months after graduating I decided to purse sa IT industry kasi I was interested in web development. I self studied the basics of it and got lucky. I was hired as a Software Engineer and 1 month after that I got deployed sa IBM and worked as a contractor. It was a Japan project and as someone with no experience at all sa programming other than don sa boot camp na inenrollan ko for 2months. Super overwhelmed ako don sa project kasi Japan projects are very strict with deadlines and your code's supposed to be neat and clean pero ayon nga as someone na mababa pa ang exposure with real projects nag struggle ako and yung iba kong task is nagpapahelp ako sa ka work ko. That went on for about 3-4months siguro since yun lang yung dev phase namin.
Fast forward to present time I am currently deployed in Japan, I hate to admit it pero I honestly enjoyed it more nung nasa PH ako working on a Japan project kasi mas may exposure with coding front end siya(VueJS), although stressful pero may growth. The project I am working on kasi ngayon Java yung programming language na gamit and yung mga modification is parang tip of an ice berg lang, one line or two lines of code lang yung modification which is hindi ako masyado natututo and also all of the specifications are written in nihongo tapos no translation tool. Manually ko tinatype in nihongo then manually ko itytype to translate which is time consuming and feel ko hindi namamaximize yung learning potential ko. So ayun with my 3 years of experience sa pag shift ng career, hindi ko masyado maramdaman yung growth ko kaya ngayon I am trying to get back on my feet and since there aren't alot of opportunities sa project ko I am creating my own.I personally think I can create portfolio pero with help of AI like (claude code, chatgpt, etc) pero every time na iniisip kong simulan it feels as if inaatake ako ng impostor syndrome and I don't know how to get over it. I am trying to upskill and get into AI engineering. I don't want to lose my spark kaya ngayon I'm trying my best not burn myself out kakaisip on what step to do next.
