Midi interfaces? Ableton and hardware use

I’m putting together a hybrid setup combining Ableton Live with several hardware devices (synthesizers, drum machines, etc.), and I’ve run into some questions about whether I’m choosing the right MIDI interfaces to achieve good performance. I’m especially interested in improving timing, avoiding latency or sync issues, and making everything flow more naturally while working.
Right now I’m evaluating different MIDI interface options, both USB and dedicated ones, and I’m not sure if it’s worth investing in something more robust or if a standard interface is enough for this kind of setup.
Does anyone here work with a similar setup? What kind of MIDI interface do you use, and have you noticed real improvements in timing and workflow? I’d also appreciate any recommendations for specific brands or models, or any key advice for optimizing this kind of hybrid environment.

Krautrock-inspired one-person live set built around repetition, pulse and gradual transitions

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yUj2zenbqk&t=1394s

I recently performed a one-person live set built around some ideas that I feel connect strongly with krautrock: repetition, pulse, motorik-inspired rhythms, drones, cyclical riffs and gradual changes in density.

The setup included live guitar, saxophone, electronic drums, basslines, ambient textures, loops and live sequences. Instead of structuring it as separate songs, I approached it more like a continuous performance, where each section slowly evolved into the next through repetition, tension/release and layered textures.

The stage also included contemporary dancers and interactive visuals generated through motion tracking with an Xbox Kinect, but the musical core was really about keeping a steady pulse and letting small changes accumulate over time.

For me, the interesting part was exploring how krautrock ideas can live inside a modern electronic/live-looping setup, especially as a solo performer.

Thought this might be relevant here for people into motorik rhythms, hypnotic structures and electronic/psychedelic rock hybrids.
