Helping Nephew with Tongue Tie
Hello everyone, I have a question. I have a nephew who has a tongue tie, he's 9 years old and he's not in speech therapy. He was when he was younger, a toddler. Is there anyway I can help him pronounce words? For example, he pronounces 'chocolate' as "chacholitch". I tried to explain to him to pronounce it as just "chalk-lit" He doesn't seem to remember I think and reverts back to "chacholitch". He can say "chalk-lit" and it sounds completely normal. But he goes back to the first one. When we go places and he wants something chocolate flavor, nobody other than my family can understand him and he sometimes gets flustered. Does it get easier to pronounce words when he's older? Or is there anyway I can help while he's still young. He's going to be 10 next month. I'm also just a little nervous he's going to get bullied, or poked fun at. Kids are so mean in school and he's a sensitive one.
