Happy birthday to one of the goats! Paul Thomas Anderson turns 55. What’s your favorite movie of his?
Mine is probably Boogie Nights.

Mine is probably Boogie Nights.
The man shakes his head and answers, “No, I am not drunk!”
“Okay, then prove it. There’s a clock over there. Can you tell the time?”
“Of course I can!” says the man.
He turns toward the clock and screams, “Hey! I am not drunk!”
Django Unchained (2012)
Essentially movies that feature one badass moment after another. Super cool shots, characters, and atmosphere.
Ocean’s Eleven (2001)
Uncut Gems (2019) and Marty Supreme (2025)
Although he turned it down due to concerns about playing a porn star.
Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
I understand it needs to make money and I’m ok with those ads beneath lists and in certain areas. But this is annoying.
I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but I began watching Stanley's movies earlier this year and noticed a strange pattern in some of his pictures. So far I've watched Dr. Strangelove, The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and A Clockwork Orange. Three of these films have a scene where a character seems to be screaming soundlessly. In 2001 it's during the final sequence when Dave is travelling through the 'Stargate'. In The Shining Danny is also screaming after he went to Room 237. And finally, in A Clockwork Orange Mr. Alexander is screaming when he finds out Alex's true identity while the latter was singing in the bathroom. I know that there's the Kubrick 'Stare', maybe this is the Kubrick 'Scream'? Does anyone know the reason behind this or am I just exaggerating?
Reservoir Dogs (1992) by Quentin Tarantino
Whiplash (2014)
At the end it is proven to be effective. Although it is undoubtedly abusing and violent. Would you agree with his method “there are no words in the English language more harmful than «good job»”?
