Togo clutch I recently finished

My first time using Togo Odessa for a clutch and, man, this leather is incredible.

Full build details:
The exterior and strap are both beige Togo calf from Weinheimer Leder. For the lining, I went with cedar Sully chèvre.

Reinforced areas include the zipper, d-ring loop, strap end, and the lining around the internal pocket. The zipper is reinforced with .7mm microfiber, while the strap end, d-ring loop, and lining all have a .2mm Velodon non-stretch fabric reinforcement.

For stitching, all visible stitching is done with 632 ecru Fil Au Chinois at 3.38mm, but for the turned edges I used 3.85mm round dent irons and .6mm cream Ritza.

For the edges, I used ecru Vernis edge paint, which has been polished with Columbus wax.

All hardware is gold plated, except the actual zipper tape which is a natural brass YKK Excella, also ecru.

Looking for some insight into making a pattern

My cousin has this late 19th/early 20th century silver purse (clasp?), that she wants me to turn into a purse. I was wondering if anyone here had done something similar and had any insight or tips on shaping/creating a pattern for. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Finally finished!

Here are two of three custom golf shoe bags I made for a friend. The design specs he wanted for them were that the shoes would be dropped in from the top, gusseted with exposed stitching, a French seam on the bottom, a tuck latch, and a low profile handle on top. I used 7oz chromexcel for all three. The handles are fully wrapped and reinforced with non-stretch fabric as is the top panel. The bottom is also reinforced with a second panel.

This is easily the most stitching I’ve ever done for one commission. Each is hand-stitched at 4mm with .6mm of Ritza thread.

Business card set

A business card set I’m sending out. The display is made with mahogany Buttero, size c solid brass button studs, and sewn at 3.38mm with 832 Fil Au Chinois thread. The case is made with walnut Buttero and Pueblo, a Prym Italy hidden snap, 832 Fil Au Chinois, and a red, white, and blue monogram.

All Black Glasses Case

Made with Sedgwick English bridle, Sully chèvre, and alligator tail.

Handstitched at 4mm with .6mm Ritza thread.

Edges painted with Vernis edge paint and polished with a protective coat of Columbus wax.

Important note: due to the slim design of this case, it is not recommended to use with glasses over 3cm in depth. Using with larger glasses can put pressure on the temples.

Bridle, Sully, and Alligator glasses case

I had fun with this one. It’s DSLeatherGoods pattern, made with black alligator tail, Sedgwick English bridle leather exterior, and a satin black Sully lining. The edge paint is black Vernis and it’s sewn at 4mm with .6mm black Ritza thread.

I made my first stitching awl!

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and finally got around to it. I pulled the blade from an old awl I had laying around and used a piece of Claro Walnut I had laying around for the handle. I did a rough shaping with a chisel and smoothed it out with sandpaper.

6-pocket Buttero card holder

Swapped out the chèvre for some chestnut Buttero on this one. Sewn with pine Fil Au Chinois and painted with pine Vernis.

I made DSLeatherGoods new keel bag

I had a lot of fun with this one. I initially planned on a much more tame design, but I decided to do some experimenting and see where things got me.

For leathers, I used natural American Vachetta from Wickett & Craig for the exterior and lined it with satin black Sully.

For the dye work, I used black fiebings pro dye, applied with a paint brush. I opted out of using a resolene finish and instead gave it a thorough conditioning with Saphir conditioning cream.

Stitched at 4mm with .6mm black Ritza thread.

All edges are painted with black Vernis edge paint.

Turned clutch I made for my cousin

A piece I recently finished for my cousin. Gold Samoa exterior with an etoupe Sully lining. Not visible in the pictures, but the interior pocket is lined with ivory Sully. All visible stitching is done at 3.38mm with .5mm ecru Fil Au Chinois thread, but for the turned seam I used 3.85mm round dent irons and stitched it with .6mm cream Ritza. Zipper is an ecru #5 YKK Excella with a gold plated zipper pull. The wristlet snap and shackle d-ring are both gold plated as well.

Edit for additional build details:
For the main body I added a 1mm eva adhesive foam reinforcement on the exterior panels with a 20mm non-stretch tape along the top before folding over the edge. The inside of the lining is reinforced with a .2mm Velodon non stretch fabric behind the pocket. The length of the strap is also reinforced with the same 20mm non-stretch tape used along the zipper line.

Money pouch I just finished up

I’ve been wanting to make a pouch design for a while now and finally had the opportunity! For leather choices, I went with a 4oz gold Samoa for the exterior and 2oz black Sully for the lining. I wanted to add just a bit of structure to the zipper area, so I added .7mm microfiber reinforcement on both sides. It’s stitched at 3.38mm with 632 Fil Au Chinois and all edges are painted with gold Vernis.

Crimson hides 3mm irons case pattern (free)

Hey everyone, bit of a milestone for me here, I finally put together my first pattern release. It’s a fitted case for the Crimson Hides 2+5+9 3mm French iron set.
I’m releasing the pattern for free as a little thank you to the leatherworking community. I’ve learned a ton from the people here over the years, and this felt like a good way to give something back.

The pattern includes the layout/template files, both a4 and letter, and is designed specifically around the Crimson Hides 2+5+9 set for a snug fit.

Like I said, this is my first pattern release, so if you have any issues, just let me know.

Appreciate all the knowledge, feedback, and inspiration this community shares daily. Hope some of you get some use out of it. To get the pattern, you just have to head over to my website (link in my profile), and you’ll find it under Leathercraft in the available items section.

Ole Miss wallet commission

I always love getting a chance to play around with colors, so this was a fun one for me. This client wanted one of my Snowcrest minimalist wallets with a University of Mississippi color scheme. So, after a bit of googling, I decided to use the Ole Miss helmet for the inspiration here.
