Applying for seasonal retail work but I’ve been working a desk job for the last 20+ years

I’m looking to supplement my income with a part time second job, but I haven’t actually worked a retail position in over 20 years. I had several retail jobs in my teens/early 20s so I’m not completely clueless. But I worry that when I upload my resume full of accounting positions to stores’ websites they’ll take one look and say “what does any of this have to do with being a sales associate?” Should I create a cover letter listing my previous retail experience to add to the application? I’m not sure if anyone even bothers to read those anymore.

Any advice on how to handle the process would be appreciated!

I’m the type of person who keeps everything inside, I push it all down and go on with my day with a (usually fake) smile. The problem with that however is that eventually there is a straw that breaks the camels back and I completely lose my sh*t. I just had a verbal altercation at a restaurant and I totally overreacted. I knew as I was yelling and cursing that this was not me, but I couldn’t stop myself. Thankfully my husband dragged me out before it escalated further. But it left me realizing that the more I continue to repress my feelings daily and act like everything is just peachy, the more I’m gearing myself up for another monumental melt down like I just had. I need to find some ways to release my anger that are healthy and not likely to get a video of me posted on a town Facebook group acting like a lunatic lol. How do those of you more emotionally healthy than myself handle these things?
