I was WRONG about kpop

I was WRONG about kpop

I realized that my last post about k pop came off as abit pertensious and inflammatory and it made me reconsider. Though I still have my biases on how kpop operates I realized that maybe I was bit wrong in certain aspects and VERY wrong in others.

Turns out kpop does actually have subtle differences that defferentriate itself from western music, and I wasnt aware of that until comments pointed that out.

It was also unfair of me to generalize an industry when not all kpop acts are trying to follow trending sounds but are making thier own artistic identity.

(I also appreaciate the constructive comments critiquing my half assed post because they brought up some good points and I appreaciate yall for it. )

As a music genre: k pop is generally a copy of a copy

I feel like kpop is the genre where people go there mostly for the things surrounding it rather than the actual music because if we see the music itself its either:

1 to 1 replication of a trending song within the western market

"""Noise music"""" which is really watered down hyperpop or rave music

Hyper tik tok optimized tracks

Like its fun to listen too when you turn your brain off but most dont have any sort of artistic throughline or substance, mostly because k pop idols dont produce thier own songs. (With a few exceptions) Like early Bts who had very deep themes within the music they produced (like wings era was peak) and though Im not a straykids fan I heard that they too produced thier music, and G-Idle has soyeon who writes for her group (I still feel like her peak was nxde but that was my opinion)

Listen before you tussle with me, I was a hardcore k pop fan, and a brief katseye stan but as I started to venture out of music outside of kpop over the years I realized that k pop doesnt cut it anymore. Like music outside of kpop especially genres I LOVE like trip hop and hyperpop prides themselves off of experimentation and they dont try to copy a song one to one for profit. Rather they take inspiration and build off of eachother to make something new. Though I like gnarly and pinky up due to thier experimental sound, why would I choose Katseye over Sophie when I can easily listen to her instead? Why would I choose a water down version when the original and frankly better excecuted song is right around the corner unless I have a deep attachment to the idols in question?

Im not saying that inspired and meaningful k pop songs dont ever exist. They do, but its drowned out by the other songs constantly vying for your attention by peddling their own kpop versions of trending songs. And the algorithm simply promotes it more.

Im NOT saying that western music and non kpop music is this bastion of artistic freedom and creativity, its not.

(Like ice spice and taylor swift are still popular and are as unisnpired as they come) However they still have a bit more room to put out the artistic expression that they want to, and unfortunately most k pop idols dont have that luxury. And thier companies (ESPECIALLY the big 4) are only concerned with profit, and whats easier than to make a copy of an already trending song but make it kpop and sell photocards of your idols! Its because they know they are really selling one thing, and it aint music.

Edit: ngl I was expecting to get flamed but Im glad that we are having good discussion here! Also Im open to reccomendations !

Adela inspired outfits I made

Ive watched her music videos and I came to love her fashion. However I needed to tone it down considerably so its not gonna be a 1-1 recreation.

Controversy surrounding Hatsune Miku's Styling with Hybe x Geffen

Ever since Manon's Hiatus Hatsune Miku (bless her heart) has taken on the mantle of being the 6th member of Katseye temporarily until Manon (hopefully) comes back yet with this announcement some have been dreading how she'd be treated. And lets just say thier concers has been somewhat validated.

Two pictures taken shown how drastically different not only the other 5 girls have been dressed especially Hatsune Miku. Some worry that her mostly wholesome image would be tarnished.

Tell me what do you think? Is it a virtual diva expressing her autonomy within the pop landscape or she too is spoken for like the rest of these Katseye members.

NEW INFO REGARDING MANON AND HER SOLO ACTIVITIES (LEAKED)

Speculation has been swirlling surrounding Manon's new direction ever since her departure. Yet everyone could rest asured regarding this NEW info leaked by this Hybe producer.

Where he reported that Manon was going to allegedly release an ALBUM but before that she was going to release a pre-released single "Bloodly Heelz" featuring the rising chinese virtual singer/rapper Yi Xi.

Some wonder if Yi Xi is not only going to be present on the track but also aid in not only her vocal prescense on but also for song writing and production through this alleged new album.

Others speculate that Yixi would only help with song writing ALONG with Manon, and that Flavor Foley would be in charge with the production. These speculations started to sound further as Manon posted pictures of herself within the studio with a person who is persumed to be Yi Xi and Jamie paige (Flavor Foley Member).

Manon has recently came forward about this via. A weverse message. Due to her phone being lost in customs she had to send this via ipod touch touch touch touch touch
