Hi everyone,
I’ve moved west side and want to join a gym. I’m close to both the Mardyke and Brookfield and trying to choose between both. I’m familiar with the Mardyke as a former UCC student and would get discounted membership but I worry it’s too busy with UCC students. I’m not as familiar with Brookfield; back in my day it was more known for its pool but I understand they’ve refurbished and expanded the gym. I’d love comparisons from anyone whom is familiar with both. I’ll be focusing on squat racks, free weights and to a lesser extent resistance machines/free weights. Also enjoy a good sauna.

Hi everyone,

Just realised I’m “double booked” next Saturday and have purchased tickets for both CMAT at Virgin Media Park and 1975/Naoi Déag Seachto Cúig at the Opera House.

When I realized this I assumed I would put the 1975 ticket up for sale however when I checked the ticket the CMAT gig is scheduled for 5pm and the 1975 gig for 8:30pm.

Has anyone been to a “5pm” concert at Virgin Media Park before? Is it likely to actually start before 6pm and possibly end before 8pm or is it more of a whole evening affair?

I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable gardener/landscaper in Cork. I’ve recently moved into a house on the west side and the garden needs a bit of work.

Main jobs are:
• Cutting back/tidying some overgrown hedges
• Installing secure perimeter fencing

The fencing part is particularly important as I have a dog and I need to ensure the garden is properly enclosed and escape-proof.

Would love recommendations for someone trustworthy who does good-quality work and could take on a job like this. I understand it might be too small for some of the more established contractors but I really want to get it done properly and promptly if possible.

Appreciate any advice, particularly from anyone who has had good first hand experience.
