Step 1: Build an orbital base. Step 2: Lift to orbit

Not sure how to do Step 2, though...

  • Universe: Expedition 22 and main game on Normal mode
  • Base: "Orbital Construction Yard"
  • Planet: Haywarke
  • Co-ords: +1.36, 39.21
  • Portal: in images
  • Resources: 50k of Silver, and 50k of Nitrogen

My last base was build around a 64-edge circle. This one is made from a 96-edge circle as I wanted to make the outer ring larger for an orbital base.

If there is no power, the Short-Range Teleporters won't work. There are doors on the top, in the middle on one side, and the bottom layer with the larger landing pads. None on the outer ring. If you enter via the bottom doors (where the main landing pads are), look for a missing floor panel behind the teleporter to get in.

The central core is 4 layers (service with landing pads, mechanical, mercantile, and relaxation). The outer ring is for playing with Exocraft. Finally, there is a control room suspended above everything with the Base Computer and Base Teleporter.

I added shrunk alternate landing pads on the struts, which worked rather well. Taking off from them feels fantastic!

The outer ring has three miniaturized Exocraft for racing around the ring, which is rather fun.

There are some in-construction shots near the end.

In retrospect, I should have made this in orbit but it was more of a test of a larger circle when I started that then grew a tad.

This is already at 3,000 base parts. For larger bases, more is definitely needed to let us decorate properly :)

99% (and 1E+02%)... so close!

We're waiting!

Assuming we have to hit a total score of 25m, we are at 24,876,291 which is 99.5%.

Would love some feedback on circular base

Base is called "Room with a View w/ Copper 50k, 02 50k".

Portal co-ordinates in image. Planet is "Ceryst VII" and planetary co-ords are "+16.18, -127.36". Planet is lush and green with the occasional storm. Excellent for base building as the views are gorgeous.

I've spent a chunk of expedition 22 playing around with building techniques. This base was so I could learn about the reverse wire-glitch, and making circular rooms. Thank you Beeblebum for your excellent guide.

I started with the reverse wire glitch to make 45-degree entrances to the central square building situated near the edge of a cliff. The timing on that is still mostly dumb luck for me (on Xbox, so no macros or mods). I then went on to add the circular base (which is why it's half over land and half over the cliff's edge). The circle is based on a 64-sided stack of floor panels.

I'd love to have some visitors and get some feedback on things that are done well, things that are done poorly, and how to improve. I'd particularly love some feedback on where the stairs join the 2nd floor walkways from the 1st floor of the outer circle as I think the joins could have been done better.

Of course, anyone who just wants 50k of copper and oxygen, or who just wants a nice place to sit and have a cup of tea is also welcome!
