PlayDead App on Fiio M21 DAP will not stream music

nor will the Nugs app. Just set up a new Fiio M21 DAP and I was able to install and sign into both apps. However, neither one will stream music. I get an error message saying that nugs.net had a "communication breakdown". Posting here in hopes that someone has resolved a similar problem. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Fiio M21 and Apple Music downloads to SD card?

CoPilot AI insists that Apple Music on the Fiio M21 does not allow downloads to be saved on the SD card. Files may be downloaded within the Apple Music app only to the 64gb internal memory, according to CoPilot. This makes no sense and is conflicted by Gemini. Would appreciate confirmation from a Fiio M21 owner that I can, in fact, download music to the SD card before I purchase. Many thanks.
