Still not STTN

Anyone else have an older baby still not sleeping through the night!? My babygirl is 10.5 months and still wakes up at least twice a night- much much not lately with teething and developmental milestones.

I’m feeling like I’m doing something wrong

Behavioral health clinician vs therapist

My first job out of grad school was as a behavioral health clinician- integrated into a primary care children’s clinic. I loved the work but quickly became overwhelmed with the amount of patients that were assigned to my caseload. (And the referrals just kept coming every single day). I only lasted a year because of this and transitioned to school social work for the past 3 years.

Now I’m looking to get back into a more clinical role but I’m wondering how a behavioral health clinician role may vary from a clinician who’s not based out of a medical setting? Especially in terms of caseload. Are you capping yourself (or your employer) at a certain amount of clients?

First night in own room

My baby girl is spending the first night in her own room tonight. She’s days away from being 9 months, and I think it’s time.

We all keep each other up at night, so I’m hoping she will sleep better in her own space. I’m also going back to work in September, so I want to focus on this transition while I have more spare time and energy (what’s that? Ha).

Baby has been using the pack and pack for sleep since 3 months which she will continue to utilize so that there are no other changes. Everything else will remain the same. Still, I can’t help feeling guilty for some reason? She watched me move her pack and play earlier and it made me feel some type of way 🫣🥲🤣

I know others have moved their little ones much sooner, and others much later. Everyone is different, along with their baby. Just needing to get this off my chest.

(I will say I’m excited to have more time and space with my husband during the evenings). Right now we have to whisper and stumble around in the dark. Also she goes to sleep at 7:30 and we…..don’t. lol.

Floorbed for older baby

Thoughts on a floored very similar to this for a 9 month baby? Obviously it would not have pillows, blankets, etc.

*****Editing to add context.

Our baby has never accepted her crib, and we have been using a pack and play successfully up until this point. She’s on the taller and heavier side for her age, and she constantly bangs from side to side while trying to settle at night. She’s making it clear she wants more space, but I’m trying to find a middle ground where she’s still somewhat “contained” for safety, while also giving her more room.

Friend with aggressive toddler

Does anyone struggle to spend time with a friend or family member because they have a child that is too aggressive with your baby?

My husband has a niece that adores our baby girl, and asks to visit and spend time with us often. The biggest issue is that she has a toddler son who is a very “typical” rough and tumble little boy. We understand that at his age, it’s normal to run around and test boundaries. What’s not normal (to us) is that she seems to have a hard time enforcing boundaries with him.

We would normally ignore as it’s not our business but when it comes to our baby, it plays into why we don’t spend much time with them. Her son constantly wants to hold the baby but has pinched her before and then laughed. Gets jealous when she gets attention, takes her toys, etc. once at their house, niece came out of their house with baby scream crying “for no reason”. We think her son did something to upset her.

She doesn’t seem to see or understand that we decline invitations sometimes because of this behavior. We don’t want to hurt her feelings but the entire time is spent trying to get her son to not pester the baby to the point of being rough with her. He begs to hold her but genuinely does not seem to like the baby.

Overbearing family member

My husband and I had our first baby last year- she’s 6.5 months now. He has a larger family which includes
a niece (around my age) that is very taken with our baby. I love that she enjoys her and wants to spend time with her, but it’s honestly becoming overwhelming.

She has a son of her own who is 5- super sweet but a typical “rough and tumble” little boy. He becomes jealous of the baby and niece has a hard time enforcing boundaries with him. (Not our business but it plays into why we’re not comfortable with her babysitting). She has asked countless times to come pick her up & we gently just say we’re not ready to leave her yet. She will continue “joking” and asking every holiday or weekend. She wanted to pick her up for the 4th of July so “‘me and husband could go out”. Well we wanted to spend our daughters first 4’th with her, not out partying..

We recently signed baby up for a mommy and me music class. Niece joked that she almost came down to watch her first class but decided to “leave us be”. Texts about wanting to hang out and missing her are sweet but stuff like this all compiled together is a bit much.
