Update Michigan NC and Nevada

Legislative Update

  1. Michigan - the Senate Dems held strong and did not cave to the House Speakers demands to wrap the ban into the budget negotiations. It was close, but reason prevailed.

  2. North Carolina - the ban bill was amended to regulate leaf. Senate passed their conference report. HOuse did not as they were not happy with the hemp provisions. They will reconvene end July. But we are in good shape.

  3. Nevada - BOP missed their deadline to file their intent to schedule kratom. No action will happen from BOP until after next session. That being said, I think they have moved off the issue

Urgent new york

URGENT NEw York

New York Residents:

Stop Blanket Kratom Ban in Oneida County

Dear advocate,

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. has announced a proposed local law that would solidify the county's public health order prohibiting all kratom products.

Crucially, this overly broad prohibition fails to distinguish between natural kratm leaf products and concentrated synthetic kratom derivatives.

That's why we need all advocates to contact Oneida County legislators and urge them to draft new language for commonsense kratm regulation that makes this critical distinction.

Advocates should encourage measures such as age restrictions, mandatory third-party testing, and labeling requirements for natural kratm leaf products — while maintaining an outright ban on concentrated synthetic kratom derivatives.

Advocates may mention that the New York State Legislature has already acted to address concentrated synthetic kratom derivatives and is continuing work on further regulation.

Specifically, New York has enacted an age gate; labeling requirements are coming into effect in November; and a concentrated synthetic kratom derivatives ban is awaiting the governor's signature.

Suffolk County is also pursuing targeted regulation of concentrated synthetic kratom derivatives after first considering a blanket ban.

Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recommended scheduling concentrated synthetic 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) but not natural kratom leaf.

Where possible, advocates should share with legislators their personal anecdotes and success stories related to using natural kratom leaf products. Legislators' contact information is below:

Michigan ban bill

The in the

Global Kratom Coalition is alerting Michigan residents to an urgent and evolving situation state legislature.

There is new pressure within the state House of Representatives to advance its blanket kratom ban bill (HB 5537), approved by the chamber in March, within the next week.

To help guide Michigan toward regulations over broad-based prohibition, we need advocates to contact their state senator and urge them to reject a blanket ban.

Advocates should convey that commonsense regulation is the better path forward tor Michigan.

You can identity your senator and find their contact intormation here-

If you need additional help taking action, use the Kratom Consumer Advisory Council's Advocacy Buddy tool for this time-sensitive request.

Please make your voice heard in the push for smart, science-led policy in Michigan
