Fear of topper…help!

Hi all, I would really like to add a topper to my crabs 20 gallon tank, but I am scared to death of doing it. For context, I am the WORST handy person of all time. I cannot put anything together and am completely clueless.

I’ve tried watching videos on YouTube but either end up puzzled or unclear, and always very intimidated. I just know I will screw it up.

Is there some hack here? Some very basic, easy way to do a topper? I don’t mind paying if it makes it more realistic. Please let me know and thank you in advance.

Concerned about emotional impact at goalie

My daughter is U8 rec and it’s her first time in a league with goalies (I’m the coach). For background, she is a pretty anxious kid and her real weakness is timidity. Scared, backs off the ball…basically her weaknesses is all the things you need a goalie to do at her age.

She says she wants to play goalie and I put her on the schedule (every kid plays a half is the way I organized it). It’s her weekend coming up and she’s having a chance to practice. Thankfully she’s smiling when a ball goes in.

However, I’m worried in a game setting. I don’t care about winning AT ALL - just want the kids to like it, taste the game and try different positions and learn. But I’m concerned about multiple goals being scored against her, the roar of the parents cheering from the other side, disappointment from her teammates and how that will impact her emotionally and self esteem wise.

Is it best to go forward and let her try? I hope you see the dilemma. She could be fine, I know!

U9 - Goalie Rotations - Help!

Hi all, I am coaching 2nd graders (rec league; not competitive) this year and it’s the first year where there are goalies. I was wondering what you have all found to be most optimal on rotating goalies since you can’t do it every 10 minutes like a normal substitution.

My thought is that I build a schedule and every player plays a half at one of the games. That way it’s steady, everyone knows when their turn is, done. And I can communicate to parents clearly that’s the way it will work.

My only concern is if some players end up with two slots at goalie due to more games than players, but I can just make that totally randomized and explain to parents that it’s just a roll of the dice. Does that work?

Let me know what you have seen and thank you in advance!

Love how you don’t even get an acknowledgement on these milestones…

I think I’ve been at this milestone for..3 years? Oh well, another decade or so to go!!

IRS has not given me my refund from 2024. What do I do?

The IRS owes me a large sum of refund money from 2024. Every time I check the refund status, it tells me that "it may take 60 days". Yeah...it's taking a lot longer than that.

I tried to call today on the advice of my accountant. He said that even though they say calling won't help, it may give them a nudge.

Well, I tried to call and the automated system doesn't even allow me to speak to a person. It just jams me into an authentication process, tells me exactly what the website says and then hangs up on me.

Does anyone have advice on what to do? It is INSANE to me that they owe me so much money and nothing ever happens, and there is no way to actually get an answer on this stuff. Very frustrated and thank you!

Two rock questions

Picture 1: it’s interesting to me that the holes in this rock are exactly in the center of each “flower” - anyone know why this would be?

Picture 2: in your opinion, will this EVER be smooth? Just curious if it’s worth it to keep going.

Thank you!!!

Should a rock like this ever go in the tumbler?

Feels like it will just perpetually have that hole? It’s a Malawi agate…thanks!

Astronaut ice cream has become terrible and I’m very upset

My kids went to Franklin Institute today and i told them to try the astronaut ice cream. It has become TERRIBLE! I’m very upset as this was a fond childhood treat that has been destroyed. Catastrophe!

Slight discoloration on bake…which step do I take?

I got the SLIGHTEST loss of color plus a bit of browning on these. But everything else I’m happy with. I want to adjust without throwing things off. Should I:

A) turn heat down 5 degrees

B) just add more color to offset loss of color late

C) bake for less. This one stresses me out the most because I’ve underbaked before and it’s very upsetting! Although maybe same issue with turning heat down

D) move rack all the way down (moving from middle one down did not make a difference)

Thanks!!!
