Police
Has anyone had their elder person with dementia threaten to call the police on you?
This is almost every day at my house because I won’t let Dad drive.
6/11/2004
This date is possibly the most meaningful date in the history of Umphrey’s McGee.
It was so special, so fun, so long, so important to their trajectory.
I am so thankful I was there being loud and proud.
The crowd size, the other bands coming to watch, the balls out performance…it was magical in all ways.
Unfiltered Truth
My 84 yo Dad has moved in with us over the last 5 weeks and it has been a challenge, to say the least. He refuses to bathe and gets very angry at many things.
I have taken the brunt of his anger. Especially for asking him to bathe, which is really just my wife asking me to ask him. He has no issues with my wife and holds my younger brother on a pedestal. Mind you, my younger brother took no part in moving him to our house and has not even tried to call him in 5 weeks. Yet he goes away on vacation all the time. But my Dad keeps saying he’s busy with work and that’s why he’s not around.
Every time I ask him to bathe, it’s a fight. Then this rolls into him saying he’s going to leave and go back to his apartment. Even though the doctors told us no driving and no living alone.
He thinks I’m the only one being mean to him. He has tried to hit me. He told me my life has been a complete failure. Everything is aimed towards me.
I understand anger is part of this sickness, along with forgetfulness. But he remembers when his bills are due and amazes me with other things he remembers.
I’m of the opinion that the angry things he says are not part of the sickness, they are just simply unfiltered thoughts and opinions he has always had. He just can’t hide them anymore.
