I’m at my wits end with my Rottie Mason
He has been brought up in a loving home no arguing or shouting, no kids and has everything he needed and move, lots of love
He is just out of control now on walks. In the house he is normal but the minute we set foot outside he is nuts. His main triggers are:
- buses
- people running past him
- motorbike
- Biycles
- dogs
To put things into perspective. I feel like I can’t walk him anymore. Recently there was an incident where he bit someone because she ran past him (he now wears a muzzle no matter what) and thankfully we were able to apologise and move past it (he just pulled on her coat not break any skin). Now today he chased and made a kid very upset because he went nuts barking and pulling trying to get a kid riding her bicycle.
There is no need for this behaviour and I dont know where he’s got it from at all. It’s so reactive. He is nearly 3. He starting developing these things at around 1 and it’s getting worse not better.
It’s leading to me being very dry upset with him. I have tried training before with 3 trainers and he is very very stubborn. I have had 2 dog walkers quit (I work part time) because of his behaviour on walks. I only work 4 hours a day but wanted to get him a walk in between. Other wise he is walked 4 times a day and given a lot of exercise.
I would never get rid of him, but besides not letting him outside and just weeing in the garden I don’t know what to do.
I am quite upset this evening after the incident with the kid on the bike as I feel it’s going to cause friction where I live as I agree this is unacceptable (my dog).
It’s just so sad as it’s no reflection on how we brought him up we don’t know why he is like this.
It can’t continue as it will end badly as his is developing a pattern of serious behaviour. It used to be just reactive but now he’s leaning more towards biting and lunging at people.
Hello!
My Rottie has got a black lump on his neck which I’m not happy about - vet tomorrow booked and possibly biopsy ££££$$$$$
Question: we literally just got our renewal for his insurance today that’s due to start now in 29 days. It’s gone form £34.94 to £50.80 which I wasn’t best pleased about but hey (he did have a lump removed 7 months ago that turned out to be non cancerous so putting it down to this). With gritted teeth I am accepting the 43% increase.
I am worried that if this goes ahead within the current end period of this insurance cycle, could they withdraw the renewal price and increase it even more? Or because I’ve accepted the renewal price they can’t retract it and bump it up just because I’m going to put in another possibly hefty claim
Hope that makes sense - just a little worried.
