Is this sickness or just stress?
I got two endlers from a LFS yesterday and one of them is acting strange. When I introduced them, he immediately swam to the bottom of the tank and was lying underneath a plant on the substrate. He stayed like that for a few hours and then I couldn’t find him. Today he was at the surface of the tank all day staying in the same general location for most of the day. I saw him come out a few times to swim up to my other guppies/endlers, but he was nowhere near as active as them and it almost seemed like he was sinking if he stopped swimming. after a few seconds he would go right back to the surface. The other endler I got with him came from the same tank and seems very active and healthy and socializes with my other fish all day.
He looks okay physically (he had some clamped fins yesterday but they aren’t anymore) but none of my guppies or endlers have acted this way before so I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with him? I drip acclimated them and my tank parameters are pH: 7.4, ammonia: 0 ppm, nitrite: 0 ppm, nitrate: 0-0.5 ppm.
(sorry the pic is not good lol, just trying to show what he’s been doing all day)
Meet my two mystery snails! This is my first time keeping snails (other than pest snails that have come in on plants). I’ve done a ton of research but would appreciate any tips from seasoned snail keepers!
I got them from shrimpy business and there was a freak snowstorm that happened when they were shipped so I was so nervous they weren’t going to make it but luckily they were shipped very well! I didn’t want to shock them so I let them temperature acclimate for a while and then drip acclimated them and they came out of their shells almost immediately!
So far they’re doing great and doing normal snail things and have eaten some of their food. The ivory one has a cracked shell that it looks like has healed, but I want to make sure they’re getting a calcium rich diet to help with shell growth. I am going to make snello with eggshells, but if anyone has any recipes for high calcium snail food, please share!
