Advice on toilet please!

Advice on toilet please!

Hi,

Starting after moving into a new house last year to deal with urgencies. I'm in the UK.

This toilet runs the water about every 10 minutes for 10 seconds. Like it is leaking and refilling.

The whole of the bathroom it is in is pretty damp (small ensuite with ceiling fan, no windows) and even so, putting toilet paper to the refill pipe at the bottom right comes away dry. Otherwise, I would say it is leaking and refilling.

Additionally if this is any clue, the push buttons when pushed, will leave the tank refilling indefinitely until you give them another quick push.

The model is an iflo. Can't find it online easily.

I gently pulled at the lid and the push buttons are obviously fixed in so I can't just lift it straight off. I am sure there is a trick to it like turning it 90° but I don't want to break it if it's already on the way out.

So could somebody please advise how to open it to look, whether to replace the whole unit, or if there is a float I need to adjust - or if it is likely that there is a leak and I just can't find it/don't know where to look?

Note: I'd really like to fix the push button mechanism too. I don't mind replacing the push button unit if they are all common sizes. But don't want the toilet out of action so will live with that if I can only fix the refilling.

I have most of the tools I would need to fix it - all types of hand tools, pipe cutters, spare copper and plastic pipe, stilsons - and would rather not replace quite yet, as I want to do new floor and I have another bathroom that takes priority over this - can't have both out of action at once!

It's annoying my wife as it is especially noticeable overnight and it is waking her up....

Thanks in advance.

Did my Amazon driver try to steal my parcel?

I ordered a new set of Airpods the other day from Amazon. Parcel was small cardboard wallet, and the box inside is probably easily identifiable as Airpods if you’ve seen a few deliveries like this. Plus it had a PIN.

The first day of delivery there were two parcels. My wife swears the doorbell didn’t ring. They put the one parcel through the letterbox but marked the airpods as a failure, for an unknown reason.

The second day, I was in. The driver came to the door and I was watching for him. He rang the bell. When I answered it he handed me a parcel for my wife and I said “do I not need to give you a PIN?” before registering it wasn’t the airpods parcel he’d given me. He said “oh there must be another parcel in the van with a PIN” and ran back to check.

When he gave me the parcel, I put it on the side cabinet in our house. I noticed that a person’s name was written on the label, lets say “John”. An hour later or so, my wife asked “why is ‘John’ written on this parcel?” - so we both noticed it was odd. I’ve checked a few parcels since and they never have anything written on them.

What do those in the know think? It seems wild that this parcel was left in the van (as far as I can ascertain) for two seperate delivery events. Is there some kind of game plan where they say the delivery has failed 3 times and that it is going to have to be returned, then do something to intercept it and lose it/return something else? Is writing the name on the parcel a code to say “keep this in the van until we can do X”?

Just found the whole sequence of events seemed a bit more than a coincidence and thought I’d ask if this is a common way to pilfer small, high-value, easy resale items?

MacBook Pro dies after a while - WindowServer/Watchdog

Hi,

I've got a MacBook Pro: 16-inch, 2019, 2.6GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7.

It basically dies after a while and always seems to be WindowServer with Watchdog timeout - report from Console top part below.

I've wiped it clean twice, done an install of Sequoia to no avail and now it is on Tahoe 26.5 still doing the same.

Once the display goes off, it won't wake up. Eventually you hear the fans whirr and then it plays the startup sound, and either goes to a black screen saying "your mac had to restart because of a problem" or boots up and then makes me submit an error report to apple.

This is before any software is installed.

I ran MemTest86 and it came back completely clear.

I've reset the SMC and NVRAM multiple times. I'm now working through the troubleshooting steps from this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/hwk0o5/how_to_stop_watchdog_timeout_kernel_panics/

Does anybody have any other ideas what could be happening?

Moreover, this computer was bought brand new from Apple, has had only desktop use with a handful of travel occasions, was used in clamshell mode primarily (how I've used Mac laptops for 30 years or so) and cost a bomb - it seems criminal just to bin it but I am getting to the point it's not worth the time I am spending on it. I upgraded to an M3 Max and M1 Air pair so it's not essential but my kid would like it, I would use it for stuff around the house and travel if I could, etc.

I'm in the UK; is there any way of identifying the problem 100% and/or getting somebody to identify/fix it?

Thanks in advance,

Bridge question - keyboard shortcuts to go to main Contents windows

Hi,

I'm on a Mac.

I want to go through roughly 1000 images at a time, and assign them a keyword. Ideally, I'd like to then move them to a folder.

So if I have the folder up in the contents window, and select the image, I can click the keyword. Then I can't press any key to move to the next image.

Is there a shortcut key to go back to contents? Or a menu command I could bind to one?

I can use Keyboard Maestro to make this happen; I could use something else instead of keywords. I'm brand new to bridge and just want a workflow:

- preview image

- quickly assign a way to bulk sort it later

- move to next image

...anybody could advise?

Thanks in advance.
