Upgrading from a GTX 1070? Not sure if it's necessary or worth it right now.

Hey folks. My PC that I built back in 2016 is getting a bit old. So far, I've replaced a few other parts like the motherboard, and I am preparing to upgrade my RAM from 16GB to 32GB.

However, I don't know if it's a good idea to upgrade my GPU?

I've had the same GTX 1070 GPU since I built the PC, but I've kind of put it off, since I have no idea what all the stats/numbers/whatnot for each GPU means.

The most performance heavy game I play right now is Baldur's Gate 3 and Deadlock, and I don't see myself playing any of the newer AAA games anytime soon.

Is it a good idea to get a new GPU, or should I just settle for more RAM? I have plans to reuse it for my partner, but the prices are pretty high, and I don't mind waiting until they (hopefully) go down.

I don't have an explicit budget, but anything below 600$ would be the best. Both EU and US retailers are possible, although EU is preferred.

I hope my ramblings make sense. If anyone needs clarification, please feel free to ask.

Thank you in advance!

Edit: Sorry for not adding everything. I do not know a lot about PC building, as I got help back when I first built the PC, so I hope this has everything that's necessary. I tried to show what I've used it for, but I'll add a TL:DR here:

CPU: intel I5-9400F

RAM: 16GB

Current GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070

Use cases: Baldur's gate 3 as the most performance intense, but I dabble in photo editing, and tend to have Discord or a youtube video on my second monitor whilst I use my PC.

Within-Universify Challenge #9

Hi everyone! This challenge, created by u/DaVigi seeks to reflavour Universe Beyond cards into Universe Within cards, in order to introduce both new characters in established planes, as well as old characters that we haven’t seen for a long time or that have never gotten a card.

Last time's winner was me, with my design of Soul of Kylem, a design inspired by the old "Soul of ___" designs from M15. Those designs fit perfectly with an avatar of this size and mana value. With such a combat-focused creature—which just happens to be a warrior, Kylem was the perfect plane to use. Battlebond, where Kylem is featured, had a warrior theme, and had a two-headed giant focus.

Anyhow, enough about my design, this week’s challenge will be to Within-Universify Commander Mustard!

Commander Mustard, CLU 0006

The winner will get to choose next week's UB card and judge it.

Judging will be on Tuesday the 28th of July and will be based on the following Five!? criteria in order of importance:

  1. Cohesion between the following criteria:
  2. Creative writing (Name, Flavour text if any and Background Lore that is not on the card itself)
  3. Exploration of an established plane OR Exploration of an established character (The more obscure, the better.)
  4. Fitting art or art description
  5. Visuals (Does it have an actual card? Does it look good? Are the design choices of the actual card good, which also includes small things like set symbols or something of the like.)

(And while I will still be fair to the text-based submissions, I do generally prefer when it has a visual card. If the design is too complex, feel free to do a badly photoshopped illustration or draw it with paint!)

Normally, submissions can consist of just the changed elements, separately formatted as:

Name:
Art (Image or description):

Art credit (If applicable):

Flavour Card (Flavour text):

Flavour (Lore):

But I highly recommend creating the card(s) in your favorite mtg card creator. If you don't know where to look, I recommend cardconjurer.app or downloading Magic Set Editor.

If you’ve won, you can use this [template](https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQuNmpLBkn3EoqQKSUA-vKAfRyFace5zjlLAvpC9uucm_CK4eBjzjB3hA_x6wYjprDuXVh-G8S-bXE3/pub) to to) prepare the next challenge. Feel free to change it to your liking.

(If you do win, check out the list of UB cards that haven’t gotten a UW version yet by clicking here!)

Good luck and have fun!

Full map revealed (Via email)

16 hours ago I got an email from WOTC titled "know before you go" for magiccon. In the email, they had links to a full map of the con!

There is much more room than before, and the orientation of the areas is much better in my eyes!

In 2024, the mana stage was in hall 3, which was incredibly loud for everyone else, and having it moved away is going to make things much less overstimulating! The store is massive, so I would expect shorter lines. The one slight issue is that the morning queue is outside, so I hope that there is shade in the area.

Please remember to bring sunscreen or a hat to protect yourself from the sun when standing in line!

And remember to install the magiccon app!

Do we know if the festival in a box will be available during the con as well?

I've got my eyes on the festival in a box for this con, but I would rather buy it at the convention itself if it's available there.

I know that the secret lair will most likely be available during the con, but I'm very interested in the Llanowar Elves, Utopia Sprawl, and Atraxa.

Do we know if the box is also purchasable at the convention, or would that just be the lair?

For the sake of some users, I made a sub for UW reskins (r/ThroughTheOmenPaths) (Not intended as self-promotion)

Saw a few posts being upset about the uptick in UW reskin posts, and since there aren't any other communities to post them in, I made a sub for it. I don't intend this to be self-promotion, and if the majority don't mind the reskins, feel free to ignore the sub.

Ep. 9 spoilers - The makeout scene could have been a little shorter.

Look, I loved episode 9, but I think the Abstragedy makeout scene could have been a little shorter. 36 minutes and 18 seconds is a little excessive. They could have easily cut off 10 minutes and spared us the fluff. Otherwise, it was amazing.

What are your MTG Glup Shittos?

Hey y'all.

I had a silly thought. For those who are not aware of what a Glup Shitto is, it's a Star Wars term for a (usually very) obscure background character that some of the more involved fans get overly excited about (Examples include the death stick guy Elan Sleazebaggano from episode 2, or the blue alien musician Max Rebo from episode 6)

I couldn't think of many glup shittos in magic, so I figured I'd ask the community!

What are your Magic: the Gathering Glup Shittos?
