Just completed my 2nd year and currently have a CGPA of 6.05. I'm trying to figure out how realistic it is to significantly improve my CGPA before placements.

A few questions:

1. With a 6.05 CGPA after 2nd year, how much can I realistically improve it by graduation if I perform well from now on?
2. Has anyone here gone from around 6 CGPA to 7.5+ or even 8+ by the end of B.Tech? How difficult was it?
3. When do most placement companies start coming at JIIT (or similar colleges)? Beginning of 4th year, end of 3rd year, or somewhere in between?
4. How important is CGPA during placements? Is there a major difference between 6, 7, and 8 CGPA?
5. For internships (summer internships after 3rd year and off-campus internships), do companies usually have CGPA cutoffs?
6. If my CGPA remains around 6.5–7 by placement season, will I still have decent opportunities if I have strong skills and projects?
7. For ECE students specifically, what matters more during placements: CGPA, coding skills, core ECE knowledge, projects, internships, or DSA?
8. If you were in my position after 2nd year, what would you prioritize over the next 12–18 months?

7. How difficult is it for an ECE student to break into SDE or AI/ML compared to CSE students?
