Recommendations for a whiskey fan

I no nothing Whiskey. Fella I’m buying for likes JD so would like to get him something nicer.

My personal experience of JD is that it’s vile. I’ve had some Johnnie Walker before, don’t recall which colour, and that was actually nice. Had it on the rocks.

What would be a nice step up but similar profile to JD as I know he likes it.

Kit recommendations

Not sure what kit to get. Recently been dinghy sailing. A friend and I bought an old, needing some love, Mirror and have restored her.

Was sailing in early July for a few days and even a warm day, I found with spray I could be getting cold. I think this was largely due to getting a bit wetter than ideal during launch and the shorts I was wearing apparently having some kind of stay wet technology.

I don’t want to do a full drysuit, I feel that would just have me melt.

What I’ve been thinking of getting are the Musto 1mm wetsuit pants. Obviously wetsuits don’t keep you dry but use a layer of water to insulate. Would these be suitable? I don’t intend to be diving in and out of the water of course. Will only be sailing on lakes but would like to able to use it in not warm weather too. Would these only be suitable for summer months? Is there a good drysuit trouser out there? Don’t seem to able to find any.

Thanks folks, all my sailing experience is offshore so I’m used to a few layers, salopettes and a jacket.

Applying to a job

Not sure the ratio of customers to employees here. I’ve applied to two different Deputy SM roles recently. I have years of experience being a duty manager and a good stretch as store manager for Sainsbury’s in convenience and small supermarkets. My experience matches perfectly against this role, every aspect of the job I’ve done and done to a very high standard for years.

I’ve been immediately screened out by recruitment both times. Within 24 hours emails saying it won’t be going any further. I can only assume it’s because I currently live about 50 minutes from both the roles I applied too although I made it clear in my cover letter that this isn’t an issue and I have accommodation on standby in the area.

I’m going to apply to the second one again and just change my location.

Is that likely to be it or is there truly absolutely no hope whatsoever anymore. Nobody wants to be in retail management so if you can’t even get jobs in it with good experience and great references… time to just teeter myself off a cliff edge?

TT mk1

Secondary air pump has failed, I have no code but car is not heating cat on a cold start.

I see that it’s surplus to requirements anyways. If anyone has a detailed explanation of the process I would mucho appreciate it.

You remove those nasty plastic pipes to the airbox, do you then plug those?

You also remove the air combi valve, do you then plug that off with something? If so, what?

Don’t want to fuck anything up.
