Flashed the latest Witch(hunt) Reader, and I'm REALLY impressed by the way it renders epubs, especially when those epubs have small caps or bold text! I've only been using it for a couple of days, but I think it's gonna replace CrossInk as my firmware of choice!
This is the X4 I'm returning to Amazon. Before I actually drop it off, I'm curious if what I'm seeing are dead pixels on the top left of the screen (Alongside the "N" in UNCOMPROMISING), or something else. It's the same with stock firmware and Crosspoint/CrossInk.
Well, I'm glad I haven't returned my Space Black X4 yet. I was playing with firmware on my Mist Gray X4 when I noticed a row of dead pixels that I hadn't seen previously. Thanks to the recent Father's Day sale, a replacement Mist Gray X4 wouldn't arrive until August from Amazon, and the official store is sold out, so I guess I'm back to the Space Black. Hey, it's still an X4, right?
I LOVE CrossInk, but I want to take another look at Crosspoint. Is there a way to get notifications or be able to download OTA updates? I know that with CrossInk, you have to manually download and flash updated RCs, so I was wondering if it's the same with Crosspoint nightly releases?

I bought my X4 in black from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, and I LOVE using it! However, seeing the posts here and in the other subreddit is giving me FOMO that I didn't get the Mist Gray version! That version is much more pleasing to the eye to me! So, should I exchange it for the Mist Gray?
Has anyone here used Witchhunt? I've had my X4 for exactly two weeks, and I've only ever flashed firmware using the browser method. CrossInk is my current firmware of choice, but I want to give Witchhunt a try. Since there are other .bin files in the release (bootloader.bin, partitions.bin), I'm at a loss as to the right way to flash it. Do I need to copy them all to my SD card and use the SD card flashing method, or can I just flash firmware.bin using the browser method?
Stupid question, but is there a list somewhere of firmware that isn't forked from Crosspoint? I'm on a small caps quest, and I was curious to see if there were alternatives that will render small caps but will also provide the functionality I've become used to with CrossInk (KOReader sync, font selection, custom sleep screen, etc.). I've already tried Microreader and, while it rendered small caps appropriately, I was less than impressed by the rest of the firmware. Like I said in another thread, I'm probably chasing a unicorn, but I figured I'd at least try...
Does anyone have a copy of the original XTEINK sleep screen wallpaper I could download and use on my X4? I thought I saw a post either on here or on the xteinkreader subreddit that had it, but I can't find it.

So, I've been running CrossInk on my X4 since I got it over a week ago (currently on 1.3.3). I've been happy with it, but my FOMO over not at least giving CrossPoint a try got the better of me today, so I flashed it to my X4. It went well until I tested KOReader sync (which works perfectly when I use CrossInk). I successfully connected to my WiFi network, but KOReader sync continued to fail with a server error. I reflashed CrossInk, and it worked normally again. I tried it with both 1.3.0 and 1.4.0 RC2, and the same problem occurred with both. Any idea why this might be happening?
I'm getting my new X4 this morning, and I want to install CrossInk. I see that there are three different versions, teensy, tiny, and xlarge, and I'm not sure what the difference is among them. Is one version recommended over the others? Is there a description of the differences somewhere?
So I took the plunge and ordered an X4 for an upcoming trip! The only case I could get before I leave is the CoBak case from Amazon. Has anyone had any experience with this particular case? If so, how do you like it?

Has anyone encountered this before? This is my first time using the OPDS feed capability in KOReader. Whenever I select "All Standard Ebooks" from the Standard Ebooks feed menu, I get an error:
The other feeds work perfectly, just not this one. I saw a couple of related issues on the KOReader Github that indicated that this was fixed, but it's still not working for me with the latest versions.
Something I just noticed about my Project:Title setup is that when a series has a colon in its name, like "Star Trek: Picard," only the part of the series after the colon is displayed in either the Cover List or Details List views. "Book Information" shows the complete series name. Is there some setting I'm missing that can fix this?
Well, I gave SimpleUI a go, and I liked it, but I found that I didn't care for the home page all that much. I had it set up so that it would start up with the home page whenever I woke my kindle, but I decided that it was more important for me to get right into reading than to look at my stats every time I woke it. Since my Oasis is BW, there's really no point in displaying covers as a mosaic, so I opted for the Cover List option in P:T, which is kinda the best of both worlds! Just a "me" thing, I guess! 😁
I've been a case guy ever since I got my Oasis back in 2019, and I'm finding that I don't like using one as much as I used to. Hey, why bother to have the book cover as the sleep screen if it's just going to be covered up, right? So, I went the clear silicone back cover/PopGrip route, and I really like how comfortable it is to hold! That setup is okay around the house, but I'd like a little more protection when I travel, so I'm asking if y'all have any recommendations for a sleeve or something similar to protect my Oasis while on the road?
