Hi ,I am 39 M and have about 70k In my HSA have been contributing for the past 9 years, I would like to know should keep contributing to HSA and how can I better utilize the funds or invest?

How long is it taking to get EAD and AP approvals. I have trip planned to go to home come country in month of December. Priority date is May 2026

I am currently in H-4 status, and my husband is in H-1B status.

Our current expiration dates are:

• My H-4 EAD, category C26: July 21, 2027
• My H-4 status and I-94: March 2, 2028
• My husband’s H-1B status: March 2, 2028

I also have a pending employment-based I-485 and I-765 application. Let’s assume my adjustment-of-status EAD under category C09 is approved in March 2027 and is valid for 18 months.

My plan would be:

1. File my C26 H-4 EAD renewal in January 2027, 180 days before expiration.
2. Continue using my current H-4 EAD until July 21, 2027.
3. If the H-4 EAD renewal is still pending, use the valid C09 EAD to continue working without an employment gap.
4. When my husband files his H-1B extension around September 2027, file my Form I-539 as an H-4 extension of stay and file Form I-765 for another C26 H-4 EAD.

My questions are:

1. Does working with a valid C09 adjustment-based EAD terminate or violate my existing H-4 status if my H-4 I-94 is still valid?
2. Can I later file Form I-539 as an extension of H-4 status rather than a change of status after using the C09 EAD?
3. Has anyone successfully extended H-4 status and received another C26 H-4 EAD after temporarily working with a C09 EAD?
4. What is the best filing strategy to avoid an employment gap while preserving H-4 status as a backup?
5. Are there any USCIS rules, attorney guidance, or personal experiences that clearly address this situation?

I plan to confirm this with an immigration attorney, but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a similar situation.

If my H-4 visa is still valid but my H-4 EAD expires, can I use my pending Green Card EAD to keep working?

Will using the GC EAD invalidate my H-4 status? If it does, can I still extend my H-4 / H-4 EAD later and switch back to it? Appreciate any help!
