Second Thoughts: I’m an idiot who rejected MSc in (Astro)Physics at UBC for MSc TMM/CMM at Ottawa.
Why why why why why did I do that. Pls tell me it wasn’t a horrible mistake I’m panicking.
I rejected UBC and UofT physics for this did I fuck myself over
Meal Plan usable at Roger Guindon Hall Campus / CHEO / General Hospital?
Wondering if I should purchase a meal plan this year if I’m going to have all of my classes at the Hospital campus. Are there any meal plan or flex dollars food spots at the Alta Vista campus or is the meal plan a waste? For reference, I am still living at 45 Mann so I will be at the main campus often.
Thanks!
Best Residence near Medical School
It feels like the medical campus is in the middle of nowhere. The most I see is some town houses and Lavantage next to the campus.

Anyone have any recommendations or insight into housing near the medical school for someone who's never lived in Ottawa?

Thank you!
Main Campus and Ottawa Hospital Campus
Hi! Im an incoming student with 80% of my courses at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus.
I was wondering what life looks like for students in the health sciences / medicine moving between both campuses.
To my knowledge, there is a shuttle bus (although I don't know what the timings are), a limited hospital cafeteria, and a health sciences library at the hospital campus but Id imagine that a majority of university life would be at the main campus. Do you have access to all the things you might need during the day at the Hospital campus or do you have to keep moving between the two campuses?
I was also wondering about residences since they are all on the main campus. How doable is the trip back and forth throughout the day?
Any experience or advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Integrated/Accelerated TMM CMM Let's Connect!
Hello everyone! Anyone who's accepted their offer for the integrated / accelerated TMM masters program, let's connect!
I'm a new student at uottawa and I would love to start talking to fellow students in the program! Let me know if you'd like to be part of a group chat on Instagram or messenger!
Life/personal Question
Hey everyone, I’d really value some perspective from current students, especially anyone in physics/astrophysics or people who came to UBCO looking for a fresh start.
I’m someone who already did one degree and had a pretty rough university experience because of serious health issues, Covid-era online learning, and not really getting the kind of campus life or community I hoped for. Because of that, I’ve been thinking a lot about what kind of environment would actually help me enjoy school again and build a healthier life.
What really draws me to UBCO is the idea of a reset: being in Kelowna, having access to nature and outdoor activities, meeting new people, and being in a program/community that feels different from the very intense health-sciences/med-oriented culture I’ve been around before. I’m especially interested in hearing what the physics/astrophysics environment is like, both academically and socially, and whether students find it supportive, engaging, and manageable if they genuinely love the subject.
I’m also curious about the broader student experience at UBCO for people who are a bit older, doing a second degree, or coming in after a difficult first university experience.
I’d really appreciate any honest thoughts!
Personal Academic Question
Hey! I’d really appreciate it if you could read this little personal blurb, I know it’s kind of weird/atypical for something that someone would essentially be asking strangers but I feel like current UBCO students would have a lot of good context to offer suggestions 🙂:
So I’ve been accepted to UBCO for HBSc focused towards physics/astrophysics and a complimentary masters offer included. I already have a degree in molecular genetics from McMaster University.
I’ve also been accepted to Molecular Medicine at UOttawa. I know they’re really different fields but I kind of needed a change up after I really had a bad time with my first degree (which was also fucked up by serious illness and also the whole Covid lockdown situation which left 2 years online/hybrid so I never really got a normal uni experience either).
UBCO feels like the PERFECT reset for me with an amazing program, beautiful location (with great nature primed for adventuring), great new people with a chance to make new friends, a subject I ADORE (basically majored in phys the 1st time), and a chance to get away from the toxic med school expectations/environment/drama.
I also feel like it’s much easier for me to study and enjoy math and physics and bio/med is a CHORE for my Attention deficit head. I’d love to be a prof and astrophysicist one day!
That being said, Idk if I should throw away the chance to work in the big upcoming field of genetic engineering based medicine (which is likely more stable career-wise) which was also fairly competitive to get into (80 ppl cohort) to chase a passion that seems a bit unrealistic.
I’d appreciate anyone and everyone’s advice, don’t have to be a physics/med student! It’s a bit more of an emotional decision for me especially as I consider UBC a fresh start after years of tough times in hospitals and dealing with difficult medical treatment while also studying at uni.
Would you like Hasbro/Takara to make a mainline Unicron?
Unicron has always been a rather exclusive character when it comes to getting figures. A lot of us are unable to afford a large scale Unicron from Hasbro or the 3rd party options.
Unicron is still a very important character in most Transformers continuities. Would you be interested in a Leader/Commander size Unicron figure that more or less captures the main central qualities of a larger, complicated figure?
LLCs and Single Rooms?
Just a question from an incoming upper year starting a new degree at UBCO. Does anyone know if signing up for an LLC is still compatible with the upper year single rooms? Most of the LLC options say they’re for shared bathroom singles but those are reserved for first years right?
Thanks!
Vector Prime is...
Vector Prime is the most powerful Prime. Not strongest, but definitely most powerful. I mean he's given command over spacetime itself. He exists outside of space and time as well. Who out of the Primes can beat that? Megatronus with entropy? Maybe. Let's hear your answers.
