Refreshing kitchen on a budget

New house. Kitchen is not our style - really not a fan of the the quartz countertop brownish color but not in budget to change it right now. We don’t love the distressed finishes of the cabinets. There is also an jsland with totally different counters and wood base from rest of kitchen. Any suggestions for more affordable cosmetic updates? Floors will also be stained to a light /white oak color. Our style is generally light airy and modern. We tend to lean towards neutrals with pops of color - in this case maybe the window seat cushion.

Some initial thoughts:
We could paint cabinets (just white?) change hardware and possibly replace backsplash though it not sure if that’s feasible. Also looking to update modern light fixture, and window seat cushion cover and get some modern table / chairs. We will definitely paint the base of the island to match the final cabinet color.

I’m stumped and would love some suggestions.

Closing on house with open CO

Closing on a house this month and seller will likely not be able to close the CO on a basement bath conversion in time. (converted half bath to full)

How risky is it really if we move forward with closing with money held in escrow? It sounds like they’re just waiting for final step of town building dept to send out the inspector, but unclear on how long that will be. My understanding is that all we would need to do is enable access to the house and possibly access if they flagged any final updates needed to get approval. The bathroom is out of all main living spaces and a very low traffic area of the house so it wouldn’t be that disruptive in the grand scheme of things. First time home buyers here so appreciate any perspective on true risk / liability here.
