Thoughts on what this might be?

I just got back into town after being away for the weekend. My 13 year old griff has been doing a lot of panting today and mixed with some of this noise. I attributed much of the panting to the following facts: she’s always been a panter, it’s significantly warmer today than it has been (but she’s been inside in A/C all day), as she’s gotten older, she’s become more fixated on me (as opposed to my partner who watched her all weekend), so she gets a little stressed out when I’m away and for the first day or so that I’m back. I looked at her gums and they look pink and I listened to her chest and I didn’t hear any obvious fluid in her lungs. She had a normal appetite today, drank water and pooped and peed. She’s never really had allergies, so I don’t see how this can be an allergy thing. My knee-jerk reaction is always to rush her to the emergency vet, only to find out that it is something minor that could’ve waited for a regular appointment. Please excuse her appearance. She fights me on grooming and I don’t like taking her to be groomed because it stresses her out and she usually catches a bug when she’s there. Seeking advice as to whether I go to the er or wait it out.

Prefinished wood siding… does anyone have any experience with this

Hoping to some day replace my awful vinyl siding with something better. I know about hardi board sp?) already— it looks expensive. Prefinished wood siding seems to be a step up from vinyl. Is it durable? Hideous?

How important is bathing?

My partner’s mother has dementia and still lives in her home but has a “sitter” stay with her a few hours every day. We have set up Wyze cameras all over the house (except in the bathroom or bedroom) because we want to keep an eye on things (we live 4.5 hours away) and because she’s so confused, if something happened, she wouldn’t have the wherewithal to call 911. (She is only able to call her sons because we have their numbers displayed on a “memory board” by her chair). Back in January she took 5 times the normal amount of her thyroid medication and had to go to the hospital. That is the last time—to our knowledge, and from what we’ve observed—she bathed. She has worn the same outfit since January, and the sitter tells us there is no evidence that any laundry is being done. (The sitter washes the bedding.) When the subject is brought up, she either lies/misremembers and says she took her shower the night before, or she shuts the conversation down completely. There is a lab tech that comes to the house every month or so to get a blood and urine sample for her primary care doctor. (The blood test is needed for her meds). The urine test shows that she is teetering on a uti but not enough to warrant antibiotics. All of this brings me to my question… does bathing matter? If she isn’t getting utis or any noticable skin infections, is this something we have to address by getting her someone to help with her daily living activities? (That won’t go over well, btw. She barely tolerates the sitter who mainly provides her companionship.) just wondering what other folks have done in this situation.

My bathroom has a fiberglass shower stall in the lovely unmatchable shade of “bisque.” The vanity cabinet is just a cabinet the “flippers” had leftover from doing the kitchen. I don’t even think it’s the right height. 3 tiles in the floor are cracked because the floor is not level. Did they crack from settling or did the installers just not bother to level the floor before tiling—who knows. I installed a permanent shower curtain rod over the weekend and have this fleeting confidence that maybe I could fix the bathroom up myself. (Quotes from five years ago started at $30,000 and went up from there.) Oh, also, there is no heat in my bathroom so when I shower in the winter i have to plug in a space heater 20 mins before I plan to shower. I hate that freaking shower so much, but I suspect that would be very difficult to rip out and replace. Should I just try to replace the floor myself? Is it difficult to level a floor and lay tile? What changes should i attempt to make?
