Hello everyone! This is my first official post about Eleonise here and I'm very excited to share her with y'all! I got my friends into JJK this year and they were really into it so naturally, we wanted to make OCs for the series! We decided to have them be based in America, a few years after the events of the Culling Games and with the idea that America is starting to cultivate its own Jujutsu Society like Japan. They're based in Louisiana because we thought about the implications of voodoo and hoodoo in the area that would be really cool to explore as a concept for characters in that area and how that may look!

Born to the Barré Family in New Orleans, Louisiana, Eleonise comes from a family of prestigious fencers and duelists that traces back all the way to the late 1700s. The Barré Family were effectively nobility in France during the time, with Eleonise's ancestors leaving for America in the 1820's due to the French Revolution and no longer seeing their home as safe. While dueling and the like weren't common in America when they came, the Barré Family still indulged in Fencing heavily and became household names in the sport once it started to become popularized. Their love for the sport ended up creating a niche love for Fencing all over New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana, which helped them keep that noble feel that they had back in London.
The family actually had nothing to do with Cursed Users or Cursed Spirits until the middle of the 20th century, the first one in the family lineage to awaken a Cursed Technique being that of Eleonise's Great Great Grandfather. Several members of the family had gone missing during the year 1945, causing for investigation after the bodies appeared with slash marks and having been dismembered. A cursed spirit had latched onto the family, essentially challenging them to duels that resulted in the partakers death if they lost. They started to seek aid from locals voodoo practitioner's that were effectively Sorcerer's. After the curse had been exorcised, more of the Barré family started to awaken cursed techniques, which led them to having two ways of life: becoming a duelist or becoming a jujutsu sorcerer.

When Eleonise was born, only a handful of Sorcerers had come from the Barré family. Her father and grandfather were the only back to back men in the family to walk the path of a Jujutsu Sorcerer, as most of the family felt as if being a sorcerer was too dangerous and didn't benefit their status quo in New Orleans and as world renown fencers. The Barré Family has a familial Curse Technique, at least one that they know of, that is called “Bout”. Bout as a technique captures the very essence of fencing, the users cursed energy swelling if they land five consecutive hits on an opponent before they themselves get touched, as fencing requires five hits for winning a bout in a typical tournament style. So far, Eleonise’s father, grandfather and great great grandfather had this technique, while Eleonise does not.
When the Barré Family started to produce Sorcerers, several of the female sorcerers died a tragic death before the age of twenty-one. No one understood what was happening or even why it was happening to them but this played a major part into why a lot of the family weren't sorcerers. It was made clear to Eleonise that her parents wished nothing for her in terms of becoming a sorcerer, they wanted her to not struggle and to pick up the blade as a duelist.

When she was young, her grandfather mysteriously disappeared after a mission and at age 14, her father also disappeared while on a mission, both were determined K.I.A. This planted the seed of Eleonise pursuing the life of a sorcerer so she could investigate and learn what happened to her father and grandfather. She is now 20 years old and as the age of 21 looms over her, she and her friends aim to confront whatever curse it is that has been placed on her family lineage and hope to figure out what secrets may be tied to that bloodline.

Eleonise is a soft-spoken and well mannered girl given her upbringing. She’s very prim and proper, holding herself to a higher standard than her peers in almost every regard. This doesn’t mean that she thinks herself to be better than anyone, quite the opposite. She’s sometimes envious of the easygoing nature that her peers tend to have, wishing she could act in a similar fashion but at this point it’s instilled into her being. While being a serious person, she deeply cares for those around her and takes their words to heart. This results in moments where her peers tease her and she gets legitimately frustrated at their words and jests, only to realize a bit too late that they were just messing with her and bonding with her. Sometimes they mess with her too much and she’s driven to tears by them being too silly and genuinely rage-baiting her but it’s all in good fun and the group loves each other very much. She takes them so seriously because she respects them and loves them a lot, thinking very highly of her peers. They feel the same, otherwise Eleonise wouldn’t feel welcome at all. Underneath that calm exterior is someone who is afraid of what fate awaits her as she approaches the cursed age of her family.

Okay sorry for yapping so much, I had to condense a lot of this down lol, hopefully it's not too much of a hassle to read! Gonna share her cursed technique and cursed tool now!

Cursed Tool: Star Skewer
Star Skewer was originally a family heirloom to the Barré Clan, a dueling sabre with a custom hilt being a curved crossguard that resembles a five point star with the pommel being in the shape of a star as well.
Eleonise's grandfather and father started to use it after they became Jujutsu Sorcerers, with them both imbuing it with enough cursed energy that Star Skewer became a Cursed Tool. Star Skewer has the Cursed Techniques of Eleonise's grandfather and father in it now after years of being a conduit for their CE, the two of them having the same CT as well.

Star Skewer resonates with the user's cursed energy, allowing it to track consecutive hits on an opponent via marks. For each repeated hit the wielder lands on a target before their own CE is disrupted or they are hit themselves, the points of the star crossguard light up one by one. After five consecutive hits, the cursed energy of the user flares as they gain a boost to their curse energy output for 10 seconds. For every five hits after the initial five, the boost timer increases and the user's cursed energy output increases another tier, up to this happening five times total. While in this boosted state, Star Skewer's attacks pierce through cursed energy and barriers much easier, each stage increasing the piercing effect.
The buffs from Star Skewer go down per stage once the user gets hit, meaning they'll have to start over once hit or their CE is disrupted.

Cursed Technique: Casket Waltz
Eleonise has a Shikigami named "The Black Bride", a tall lady dressed like a woman from the 1700s, who carries around a "casket". The Black Bride's casket can be opened to do three different things: absorb weak curses, absorb cursed energy or shoot out cursed energy it has absorbed via curses or other attacks. The last function of The Black Bride lets Eleonise reach into the casket and take cursed energy it has absorbed to replenish her own reserves, acting as a backup reservoir for Eleonise. Eleonise can also siphon cursed energy off of people she touches, similarly to the style of a vampire, though she has to touch them with her hands. She is in the process of trying to make a domain expansion but she has been unsuccessful so far.

Lastly, similarly to the New Shadow Style that is taught to some swordsman in Japanese Jujutsu Society, Eleonise and the Barré Family have their own fighting style centered around Fencing called New Coudurier Style.
Salle d’Armes Coudurier, founded in 1885 in Paris, is one of the most famous and oldest active traditional fencing schools in France. Known as a premier institution for classical fencing, it represents the continuation of the historic French school of Fencing.
The foundation of this swordsmanship style is grounded in fencing techniques, utilizing a rapier, epee or sabre rather than a katana or Iaido. Crafted by a French sorcerer in the late 1800s, this unique style of fencing was developed to empower his people in their quest to create their own form of Jujutsu.

There are a bunch of techniques that someone helped me with for the New Coudurier Style like it having it's own unique simple domain and stuff like that! u/Necessary_Hand helped out a lot with that and I'm very happy with how that worked!
