When you have an enabler of a spouse

Conversation just now:

“Hun? help me choose an ink to try“

Show an orange, a few dull blueish purples (trying to match a favorite flower), and several hues of green to blue-green.

Next minute or two spouse helps whittle down to one of each kind for the flower color, a blue-greens, and still the one orange.

”Ok, so which ONE should I get?”

”Why get just one?”

Still new to fountain pens, trying not to fall in the deep end too quick but the spouse is an enabler.

Skull sketches

Is this alright to put here? Some rough sketches I may ink later. All found while dog walking on our/neighbor’s property (with permission).

Duck (duckling?), Squirrel, and Raccoon

I liked the look of the page before filling in any text so thought I’d share.

Thrift and recovered notebook

I shall now recite the victory cry of the crafter/maker community …deep breath in… “That took longer than I thought it would!”

-$0.99 thrift store journal

-The entirety of my free time yesterday afternoon

-A few additional materials/tools from around the house

Originally it had a community school name on it, hence the before (2nd) photo is of the back.

Wood glue is a bit wet to for this but works.

Some thriftstore finds

Sadly they were all a little too big for my needs but they were cool and I thought decently priced.

Crafty inkwell spotted at the thrift store

Sadly no lid so catch and release but it was fun looking. A creative way to keep light from getting in. It felt like a very thin unglazed clay, stuck on there good too, wasn’t coming loose anywhere

If mods don’t feel inkwell is relevant enough to dip pens feel free to remove this post and apologies in advance.

Help IDing fern in the wild?

Edit:ID HAS BEEN FOUND! Thank you!
Last photo has frond close up. Stumbled across this little one today it was under 2 feet across and the fronds are very frilly.. lacy? I’ve kept maiden hair feen before, this is thicker less delicate. I have had a hard time figuring out what it is? The newest leaf is not autumn color so not an autumn fern. Doesn’t quite fit bronze fern or golden giant woods fern photos I looked at either. I’d appreciate any input from more experienced fern people, thank you in advance!

I find adding a quick drawing makes it easier to recall/find entries later

left side is a remnant of wrapping paper (I love this pattern/color), drawing is a lab stain glass on the window. I use C4 nib for writing and a 512 for inking art after I draw with pencil. Ink is Higgins calligraphy ink that I had to reconstitute so it’s a touch watery. Had a loose blop hit the page so I just made a sloppy flower out of it too.

Anyone else enjoy doodling on the page? Something relevant to what’s being written so it’s easier to recall or flip through and find later?
