Choosing between ES accels, Etnies maranas, and Lakai telfords

Which one would you guys recommend and why? Ive heard these shoes are pretty durable and last a couple of months compared to other typical skate shoes so im really interested in them.

Ive always liked how they look, esp the accels but all 3 look really cool. And second ive heard good things about these shoes about their durability, longevity, and overall feel when skating.

And yes i know the issue with Lakai with Luis Mora being fired and all the skaters being dropped and all that but I’d still want to support my local skate shops who bought them before the whole shit show that Marc Roca did and is now having to compete with Lakai themselves for the prices.

Besides that what would you guys recommend the most? (Durability, Longevity, and Overall feeling when skating)

What is the most durable skate shoe you’ve skated?

Shoes are pretty expensive in my country (around 4-6k PHP) and the shoes I’m currently skating are thrifted nike sb’s, Im pretty sure they’re reps too because its so common in my country to be sold fakes and reps. It has no hole on the ollie patches yet but Im 100% sure its because I put glue gun on the high wear areas (I didn’t have shoe goo at the time so yea). But without the glue id probably reckon it would only last a month before it had a hole in it, it was cheap as hell (less than 1k PHP) so i wouldn’t really complain. Also im a beginner so i’ve only been doing ollie variations.

But I would want a shoe that will last me long, im talking more than 3-4 months maybe even 6 months if possible. Granted I know it’ll be more expensive but I want to be able to justify spending that much on a shoe that will just wear away anyways. I wouldn’t really have a problem with them being expensive if they just lasted long tbh.

Drop your recommendations down in the comments!

P.S ive searched some reddit threads and i keep seeing etnies maranas and half cabs so i might check those out

How do I learn 50-50’s?

As some of you know I skate in my friend’s small little park and it has 2 ledges and 1 flat bar. The flat bar is just an inch taller than my board (8.0) and I can ollie that high comfortably but the problem is I cant even get on the rail when trying to ollie on it because I just cant seem to lock on and also the fear of falling forward flat on my face. The 2 ledges are taller than the flat bar, first one is around 3 inches taller than the flat bar, and the other one is around knee high.

And before you guys say practice on a curb, I would if I could, living in a third world country gives you shtty roads and the curbs that we do have are on the highway, and are the same height as the ledges on the park anyways (this is also the reason why I cant practice ollies on and off stuff)

Should I just keep trying the flat bar or just commit to the ledge? And what are your guys tips to be able to do it?

P.S this is the first rail/ledge trick ive ever tried doing

How water proof are boardbags?

It the rainy season now and it gets pretty unpredictable at times, sometimes the weather app will say its pouring when its bright out and vice versa. Ive been looking into buying board bags for when it suddenly starts to rain mid sesh and need to go home. How waterproof are they? Obviously i wont wait out in the rain and let it just get wet but if i was carrying it and it starts to rain while going to the commuting station would my setup get fked up or no?

Is it bad to tip toe as im about to pop?

An older friend who’s been skating for years told me to stop tip toeing because its stopping me from having consistent ollies, but when i do what he tells me it feels so unnatural and weird because i my ankle and calves feels like they’re stretching when i go flat, but on the off chance that i do land an ollie with his technique the landing feels way better than mine, but i just cant seem to pop properly or ollie as much a i do compared to when i do what i usually do.

Although when i do my way of doing ollies i usually land too much toe side and end up just going off the board. His technique feels way straighter and better whenever i do land it. Im having a lot of trouble picking the right position since i dont know which one is right. On one hand my technique lets me pop higher but land bad, and on the other his technique feels so new and weird to me and i barely even get to pop it, but when i do get to ollie with it, it feels good

Here is the comparison of our foot position

I also see some of my favorite skaters having their foot flat like how my friend tells me to and they look so effortless when doing it like that but i just cant seem to stop my self from tiptoeing every time i squat on the board

Has anyone else experienced this?

I started skating again about 3 weeks ago, and I could already ollie pretty decently even doing ollies over cones. I took a break for 2 days because my hip flexor started hurting so i did some yoga to relieve it, so far so good on that. But when i skated again yesterday it felt like i stepped on the board for the first time again. I couldnt ollie if i wanted to, i was genuinely trying and it felt like ive never done an ollie before. I tried doing it moving because usually i land my ollies better when im moving but then I was scared? for some reason I was afraid of doing an ollie while moving again, even if it was just slow steady roll.

I genuinely dont know what happened to me the past 2 days but it all feels like its my first time getting on the board and im so frustrated because I know im able to do more than not being able to get the board up let alone move. So far it seems to only be ollies, , pushing, and cruising still feels the same, but when i do ollies it feels like I have never done them before.

My hip hurts after skating, how do i fix it?

I recently started skating again and im just practicing ollies at the moment, doing ollies over anything to really get good at it. And everytime after i skate when the adrenaline wears off, my front foots hip start to hurt. Today i skated more than i usually do because i was with friends and i just kept ripping ollies over and over, when i got home it hurts the most that it ever has. Not unbearable per se but just very uncomfortable pain. Its not so painful that i cant do anything but its the type of pain that makes you uncomfortable and kind of limits you from doing certain things because you dont wanna feel it.

Are there any stretches you guys would recommend? Or workouts or rehab movements in general to make this go away/not happen as often. I do plan on taking 2 days off though as ive been skating everyday practicing ollies for 2 weeks now

Heres a picture of where it hurts btw, ive encircled it

Edit: I just turned 18 so id hope its not arthritis like some of you say, i also work out 3-4 times a week but i always kind of disregarded leg days and skipped them when i could i think thats part of the problem lol

How do i make my ollies better and land better?

Its been about a week since i started skating again,

2 years ago i started skating when i was 16, but stopped only after about 1 month because the workload of senior high school was too much for me to keep skating so i stopped. 2 years later im 18 now (wooh!) and ive just been relearning how to cruise, ollie, and practicing my timing.

How do i fix my tail not sticking to my back leg mid air during an ollie? (shown in the vid at the end). And another problem i have is landing too far on the nose or just fall and not even stick it at all because i landed too far from the bolts, this only really happens when im doing an ollie over something. When should i pop? i often find my self popping too early and hit the obstacle with my back wheels or too late and not get an ollie off at all.

My goal for now is to be able to ollie onto and off anything and make ollies super comfortable to the point where its just as natural as pushing.

Difference between Nike SB pro and non-pro?

I saw a listing on my marketplace selling secondhand nike sb's, ive been wanting to try them out since ive been using old normal nike dunks lately and i like how they feel so i want to try SB versions. Are there any major differences with the pro and non pro versions? The first one is pro and the second one is an otomo katsuhiro collab and I like the way it looks more. Is there a very big difference if i skated the non pro instead of the pro one?

I saw these shoes online when I was looking for new skate shoes because I’ve been thinking about going back to skating. And saw these for pretty cheap (i think they’re on sale or smth). It caught my attention because the design looked sick and I’ve always like those chunky shoes look, but i haven’t really seen any posts on their shoes other than their instagram page with skate videos on it with their shoes.

To anybody that have tried these shoes, do they last long?
Because I know that you could probably skate with it from looking at the material but the thing Im worried about is if they’ll last long or not.
