PLEASE HELP – Interview Advice Needed – Expedited B1 Visa Appointment Approved

Hi everyone,

My expedited B1 visa appointment request was approved, and my interview is coming up soon. I'd really appreciate any advice from people who have gone through the B1 visa process.

A little about my profile:

  • Age: 21 M
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Visa Category: B1
  • Purpose of Travel: Attend a scientific/professional conference in the U.S.
  • Duration of Stay: 3 days
  • Trip Sponsor: Fully sponsored by the conference organizers (airfare, accommodation, registration, and meals)
  • Occupation: Undergraduate engineering student
  • Education: I have one year remaining to complete my undergraduate engineering degree and will return to India immediately after the conference to continue my studies.
  • Previous International Travel: Taiwan (for internship), Singapore (10 hours layover)
  • Previous U.S. Visa: None

My regular appointment was scheduled after the conference dates, so I submitted an expedited appointment request with supporting documents, and it was approved.

I had a few questions:

  • Based on my profile, what questions should I expect during the interview?
  • Are there any specific areas I should be prepared to explain in more detail?
  • Apart from my invitation letter, sponsorship letter, college NOC, my father's ITR, and my fixed deposit (FD) documents, is there anything else you would recommend carrying?
  • Any general advice for someone attending their first U.S. visa interview?

One additional question:

In my DS-160, I truthfully declared that I have relatives in the United States (though I won't be meeting them, and they stay far away from the location of the conference). A few of my friends felt that this might negatively affect my chances, while others said it shouldn't matter as long as I answered honestly.

Does declaring relatives in the U.S. have any practical implications for a B1 visa interview, assuming my travel purpose is genuine, fully sponsored, and temporary?

I'd really appreciate any insights or experiences. Thanks in advance!

Are these slots for real? (India/B1)

Same as the title.

This is the screenshot from the checkvisaslots.com app.

While I have seen some small numbers of slots come up, I have never been able to grab such bulk slots even though I was logged in and switched to the centre within a fraction of a second.

Have most of you who were planning to intern in Taiwan through IIPP in August batch received your secondary review decision?

Does the Indian embassy reply to the mail acknowledging the receipt of the application?

Edit: I ask this question as a person who is applying for the research position
