My Triumph Scrambler 400 left me stranded on my big trip to Norway due to the alternator failure. The diagnosis is performed using a multimeter by a local motorcycle mechanic in Denmark. The Scram couldn't be fixed rapidly enough as the replacement part wouldn't arrive earlier than in 5 working days (it wasn't available at the local Triumph dealers in Denmark, Northern Germany and the Netherlands). I had to fly back home while my bike is still awaiting to be transported back to my home country by the international road assistant service, which will take at least 2 weeks.
So here is my advice: ask your dealer to inspect how much output voltage the alternator still generates, especially if you're planning a big trip.
My Triumph is just 1 month out of its 2-year warranty. When it will be back at the dealer in my home country I'll try to claim the warranty.
Hi! I have a question for people who have ridden the Norvegian TET: which tires would you recommend for it?
Normally, I use Bridgestone AX41 for my long adv trips, which I really like. But for Norway, based on what I've seen on YT (well-maintained gravel roads for the most part), the AX41's seem like a bit of an overkill. My 'daily' tires are Pirelly Scorpion Rally STR. Would the STR's or similar 80/20 tires be sufficient?
Thanks in advance!
No technical stuff but a nice scenic route that I can highly recommend as a weekend getaway.
