Hey girls- anyone part of a writing group type of thing? I’d love to join one to be able to talk with people while writing. I’m in uptown but open to north side locations!

Hi all! I'm a 30 year old 95% sure I'm going to law school. I work as a school district-level school administrator after 6 years as a teacher. I have a Master's and will finish my doctorate in education around Fall 2028 (earliest summer 2028). My siblings and many friends are attorneys, so I feel like I kind of know what I'm getting into. However, they all went to law school more traditionally after a couple gap years from undergrad.

Would it make sense to finish the doctorate even though I plan to go to law school? I find it interesting and am all but dissertation completed. I find my research interesting and relatively applicable to a law career (immigration/disability systems related). Any one else with multiple post-college degrees?

I completed my doctorate May 2024, completed a year long post doc, and then started working outside of higher education settings. I loved teaching undergrads when I was in grad school. I have some flexibility in my schedule and want to pick up teaching a class or two as an adjunct. My area of expertise is in child development, special education and psychology (my PhD is in educational psychology with an emphasis in human development and learning; I also have a masters of teaching in special education, and a K-age 21 teaching license in special education, bilingual Spanish education and ESL). I live in Chicago so I know there are a lot of colleges around. I'm open to both in person and virtual teaching.

What's the best way to secure on of these positions. Should I reach out to departments directly or just look for postings on their careers sites?
