RKLB through it's European component is able to bid on IRIS2 secure connectivity program, European LEO-PNT (Low Earth Orbit Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) navigation programs, and next-generation military satellite communications.

It appears at this time that SPCX can not bid on these space program contracts—such as sovereign launchers or protected Galileo/IRIS² infrastructure—because Europe strictly enforces "geographic return" rules and mandates autonomous, local industrial bases. The move into Europe was a brilliant step for RKLB. The IRIS2 program itself is a 10.6 Billion Euro's project that will most assuredly utilize Mynaric's Condor, not sure about any of the other Space Systems hardware, yet an internet search indicates that they can sell with possible restrictions for defense designed products. RKLB has opened up a global market for the company, and I expect Space Systems to grow revenue at an accelerated pace going forward.

Current Canadian wildfires and a HOVR lower cost solution.

HOVR use case in combating Canadian wildfires:

  • Crew and personnel transportation
  • Gear delivery
  • Logistics support
  • Evacuation's
  • Fire patrols
  • Infrared scanning

Using aircraft is important because they help crews on the ground:

  • Protect critical values
  • Slow wildfire spread
  • Support control lines

HOVR support would free up Helicopter assets for retardant and water drops.

I know this isn't much of a post but the recent fires just made me think of what this would mean to effective fire fighting in remote areas of Canada and beyond.

US Air Force looks to convert offshore oil rigs into rocket recovery platforms

https://www.defensenews.com/industry/techwatch/2026/05/18/us-air-force-looks-to-convert-offshore-oil-rigs-into-rocket-recovery-platforms/

This just seems to me to be a terrible and costly approach to rocket recovery. I understand the need, but I think this envisioned solution is an engineering headache and a money pit. The structural upgrades the rocket handling system and in the end the rocket will need to be lowered and placed on a barge for transport anyway, what could possibly go wrong?
