Which is Worse: El Monte or Covina for Safety and Noise?

Im looking at new build townhomes in Covina and El Monte as these are the only affordable-ish areas in SGV.

I currently live in La Puente/West Covina border (moved last year thinking it’d be quiet because its very residential) and just experienced my first July 4th here…wow. What a war zone. Absolutely terrifying. I have two dogs. Its literally a problem not just on this holiday too. Funny enough, we drvoe around last night and the less residential areas seemed quieter as families werent gathered around there.

In general, which city is quieter and safer? All townhomes are near businesses and less residential areas.
El Monte areas that Im looking at are:

Above the 10, near Tyler.
Above the 60, near Durfee.

Covina areas:

Above the 10, near S Asuza.
Above the 10, near Grand.

Hoping that people more local will be able to give me insights. Im not too privy to this area. Thank you!

Sprinkler head seems to be leaking

I already changed out the old head for a new one, but water still seems to pool around a bit. It will occasionally drip down the sides a bit but not anything too crazy. What could be causing this?

Crazy Booms Near La Puente/West Covina Border

What the hell is going on…

I know fireworks is a problem in these Hispanic areas. This is different. For the past few weeks, there’s been these HUGE single booms that doesn’t sound like normal fireworks. Anyone else know what I mean?!

Selling to OpenDoor

Can anyone describe their experience of selling through Opendoor this year?? I’ve seen some say that the process has changed with the new CEO. How did the offer, inspections, etc all work? Thank you!

Please no comments about how I’d be losing out on cash with them. No duh. There’s a reason I’d rather not deal with the normal way.

Are these termites???!!!

Saw a few of these crawling around my house in Southern California. They can somewhat hop around if I try to grab them and they crawl up walls or TV or wherever I’ve found them so far. I don’t see signs of droppings or anything.

They’re pretty tiny like ants but have transparent wings. Excuse my dusty TV stand from the photo. Help!!

Help with Sprinkler Puddling Water?

Recently moved into a house with new sod in the backyard and supposedly a new sprinkler system. I just noticed that the middle of the yard pools a bunch of water right where the slab starts (then realized a sprinkler head is actually buried there). It seems like this area is sloping down a bit so water is just pooling. It’s almost like the sprinkler is sinking too low into the ground as it’s not flush with the grass or slab.

When running, the sprinkler head seems to be operating fine. When I try to remove water, it eventually comes back to the same level. I don’t hear or feel any obvious leak. The sprinkler is kinda buried for me to see if there’s damage. Any suggestions?
