Price difference.

I live in lower central Michigan and our GW stores have crazy high prices. I prefer to shop at other thrift stores in the area. I went on a trip to northern Michigan and stopped in a GW there. Their prices are very reasonable, they have senior and veteran discounts and the store is beautiful. I feel that they should have across the board pricing then maybe the racks of clothes wouldn't be so full that you can't look through them.

So that's what the noise is!

For those of you who have experienced the high pitched noise on the TCL televisions when shut off, I asked an expert and this is what he said.

It's the switch mode power supply running in burst mode. When they run in that mode it makes pulses and that is what you hear. When you turn of the tv, it starts running at full frequency which stops that sound.

Switch mode pulses the power on and off to hold the target voltage. He said that I could quiet it down with some caulk to keep the inductors from shaking, but as long as I know it's not going to catch fire, I'm good with the little chirpy noises.

Hope this helps!
