Am I the only one who thinks we’re about to massively overrate rookie QBs again?

Every offseason I convince myself fans/media learned the lesson about rookie QB expectations and then training camp starts and everybody’s talking themselves into immediate superstardom again.
Feels like it’s already happening with this draft class.
I saw people talking about certain rookies like if they’re not top-12 QBs by December it’s a disappointment. Meanwhile most successful NFL QBs historically looked messy as rookies.
Even guys who became elite:
Josh Allen was raw
Peyton led the league in INTs
Trevor looked rough Year 1
Stroud honestly might’ve broken people’s brains because now everyone expects instant success
Especially now that defenses are getting more disguised and complex every year.
I actually think “competent starter with flashes” should be considered a really good rookie season, but online discourse makes it feel like if a rookie isn’t carrying a playoff push immediately he’s labeled a bust.
Wondering where other fans are at on this because draft season always feels like expectation inflation.

Are we overrating preseason rankings because of how unpredictable rosters are now?

I always get excited when the way-too-early rankings drop, but I’m starting to wonder how much they actually matter anymore.
With how much roster turnover there is — transfers, draft declarations, late eligibility changes — a team ranked top 10 in the preseason can look completely different by February.
Some teams look stacked on paper in the summer, but by the time conference play hits, chemistry becomes a real issue. Meanwhile, teams that weren’t even ranked can suddenly click once transfers settle in.
Do preseason rankings still have value, or are they just content for fans before we inevitably see half of them reshuffled anyway?

I just came across this page yesterday, it reminded me of once a stranger who helped me from twitter. I know good people exist but there are also scammers.

Was there any louder crowd reaction in the 80s than Hulk Hogan slamming Andre at WrestleMania III?

I rewatched WrestleMania III last night and honestly the crowd reaction still feels unreal even by today’s standards.
I know people debate the actual attendance number, but visually and emotionally it still feels massive. The moment Hogan picked Andre up, the crowd noise completely changed. It didn’t even sound like cheering anymore, just shock.
What stood out to me rewatching it now is how long they let moments breathe compared to modern wrestling. No constant camera cuts, no overproduction, just the audience losing their minds naturally.
For fans who watched it live back then, did it immediately feel historic in the moment or did it grow bigger over time?

The older I get, the more I think Moses Malone is the most forgotten all-time great

Every generation has a guy who slowly disappears from mainstream NBA conversations, and for me Moses Malone is probably the biggest example.

Three MVPs.
Finals MVP.
Basically invented modern offensive rebounding pressure.
Carried mediocre rosters further than they should’ve gone multiple times.

And yet he almost never comes up in “greatest centers ever” conversations outside hardcore basketball circles.

I think part of it is stylistic. Moses wasn’t flashy in the way Kareem or Wilt were. There’s not a giant mythology around him like Bill Russell. He didn’t have the cultural visibility of Dr. J or Magic. His game was more physical attrition than artistry.

But when you go back and look at the production, especially early 80s Houston and then Philly, the impact is ridiculous.

The “Fo’, Fo’, Fo’” run alone should probably be talked about more than it is historically.

Do you guys think Moses gets underrated because there’s less surviving footage/discussion around him, or because his game just doesn’t translate aesthetically to modern fans?
