Childhood wrestling crush

Who was or still is your childhood wrestling crush?

My two big crushes were Jeff Hardy and Shane McMahon when I was a child. When I was a teen I had an equally huge crush on Roman Reigns.

Did WWE suck in between 2015-18?

- Roman Reigns instantly pushed in between 2015-18, but he always got booed in Royal Rumble 2015, WM31 to 34. He kept fought with only few moves (which are Superman Punch and Spear), but he always got scheduled to lose. No mention of RAW shows right after the WrestleManias. He even got scheduled to won US and IC titles when he ran out of chances of having a major title shot. And he couldn’t cut a promo for god’s sake, (e.g. his infamous segment with John Cena in 2017, thank god their 2021 feud replaced this disaster and glad Roman killed The Big Dog gimmick)

- In 2016, when WWE brought brand division back, WWE assigned “Universal Championship” for RAW, which is a very ridiculous name for a major title.

- At the time of brand division in 2016, SmackDown logo was absolute horrendous. Glad they changed the logo with a better version in 2019.

- Brock Lesnar, who was being an UFC guy with his haircut, and who was preferring UFC to WWE at these times , he was not showing up all the time, especially after WM33. He didn’t show up at many major main events of PPVs. Major main events of PPVs are either replaced with a feud match or IC title match, Tag Team title match or so. Whenever Brock showed up, he never talked. Paul Heyman did all the talking, then Brock beat opponents ass with a F-5, then leave. Their segments were so boring, compared to Brock Lesnar post-2021.

- Seth Rollins got cheered by fans unlike Roman Reigns, but he couldn’t cut a promo either. Even if he did, the promos were not memorable compared to Seth Rollins post-2019. I think the real Seth “Freakin” Rollins made his debut when he turned heel in late 2019 (His 2015 run was decent though)

- Superstars like Sami Zayn found himself as a main eventer in beginning of 2017. On January 2017, he literally tried to beat UFC Brock Lesnar at RAW.

- Ryback and ESPECIALLY Samoa Joe couldn’t have a chance of winning a major title. But Kevin Owens and even Jinder Mahal had that.

- In Backlash 2018, in the match of Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe, some fans left the arena. Backlash 2018 was one of the worst rated PPVs, so other PPVs in between 2015-18.

- We all know that Brock Lesnar threw his title to Vince after WM34. Booking was horrible.

- A legendary main eventer like Randy Orton became a midcarder in 2018, he placed in a triple threat match for US Title in WM34.

- SmackDown 1000 was not legendary unlike RAW 1000. The Rock, actual inventor of SmackDown show, didn’t show up. All I see were Becky roasting Edge, obnoxious fans were booing Edge, and outdated Evolution feud from 2005, between Batista and Triple H.

- There are no memorable matches and feuds in between 2015-18. I didn’t know Spirit Squad returned to WWE in 2016 and Great Khali returned to WWE to help Jinder Mahal in 2017.

- In June 2017, a man named as Lavar Ball made his debut by dancing like Boogeyman. He also brought his sons or whatever. He absolutely failed at that promo. Also he said N-Word out of nowhere.

- Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss feud was mediocre.

- Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton at WM33 was horrible because it was a “worms” match, but they just projected a picture of worms from top to ring.

- Promos were horrible. Especially Roman Reigns’ infamous promo with John Cena in 2017. Also Sami Zayn and Bobby Lashley’s sisters promo and Alexa Bliss “it’s your life Bayley” promo were horrible.

- Matches were corny, boring and repetitive.

These are my opinions about these era. Only positive things were in SmackDown. AJ Styles’ and Dean Ambrose’s runs. Nothing else. And on RAW, Chris Jericho’s List run was decent. That’s it.

I think 2015-18 were one of the worst eras of WWE. Unfortunately, GM of RAW Kurt Angle witnessed one of the worst eras of WWE. So, what do you think about WWE in between 2015-18?

Thoughts on Grayson Waller

As a fellow Australian I hear good things about him, problem being I'm hearing it from other Aussies, what do people around the world think of him? I have my own opinions and I'm not bias

Is the fan obsession with ratings and revenue specific to wrestling.

Is there any other industry or product where fans will try and use popularity and revenue to argue the thing they are into is better?

I am on a number of different forums and groups that cover a variety of my interests and while I see tribalism in various forms in many of these it is only wrestling fans who will try and claim the company they support is better because “it makes more money” or “charges more for tickets” or “has higher ratings or more people go to watch it”, or argue the reverse makes there own company better.

In my TTRPG forums no one ever claims that just because it sells more books DnD is better, they will debate the system, and in fact the high cost of products and the need to claw every last pound out of the fanbase goes against them even among the staunchest defenders.

In Xbox ve PlayStation debate I don’t see anyone arguing that one is better then the other because it costs more, or even try to use global sales to make a point

When arguing about which TV show is better I rarely see people pull out TV ratings as a point of comparison, likewise when arguing about an MCU film vs a DC one we never go to box office or even critical reviews to argue a case for which is better.

Then we come to wrestling fans and just over the past few weeks in various places online I have seen people arguing that WWE must be better purely because it makes more money. One person argue that the price of a ticket to a WWE show proves it’s a better quality show. People argue about the minutia of tv ratings, gates, anything that is a number.

So can anyone else think of anything else where fans are so obsessed with the financials and numbers? Why is it we care and celebrate how much WWE has made and don’t think the same of what our own sports team profit is. In fact I know if my premiership team reports a profit for the owners I don’t think, that’s amazing, I’m so pleased they made another million pounds. instead I think, money grabbing f**** you should be putting that back into the club, lowering ticket prices or buying us a new player.

Is this just a calllback to the vey public ratings war?

Which wrestler from the past do you feel was under rated?

Many will say Mr Perfect some will say Bam Bam Bigelow for me it was Rick the model Martel, he had the look, the charisma and could definitely go in the ring, maybe because of a stacked midcard but I really felt like he could have been a multiple time intercontinental champion

I rewatched the matches between Styles and Seth at MITB 2019 and NOC 2023. They’re not memorable matches and it SHOCKS me that these 2 did’t put on a Classic! They were the Modern Day Bret Hart Vs Shawn Michaels! If they had feud and an Iron Man Match at Mania it would have been LEGENDARY!

Why is WWE scrutinised for steroid use but Bodybuilding isn’t?

I am not endorsing or opposing the usage of Steroids/PEDs. But I cannot help but notice the inconsistency of lawmakers and media regarding how they reacted towards the two industries.

Should WWE Bring Back TLC as a PLE?

Do you think WWE should bring back TLC (Tables, Ladders & Chairs) as an annual PLE?

I personally think it would be great to see it return, especially with the current WWE roster. TLC matches have always produced some of the most memorable moments.

Would you want WWE to bring back the TLC PLE?

Are there actually any valid reasons left to watch WWE in 2026, or is it just pure habit at this point?

Every single week, you see the exact same cycle on here and across Twitter. One side is posting essays about how WWE is a soulless, corporate entertainment machine that actively hates professional wrestling, cares only about TKO stock prices and mainstream sponsors, and delivers safe, sanitized TV for casuals. They argue that anyone praising the current product is a "simp" enabling creative laziness.
