Another one in a year??

Hey y’all, I’m three hours post colonoscopy that was scheduled due to GI symptoms and family history. They found two polyps, a baby 1 cm in my cecum and a larger 8 mm in my sigmoid colon. Both were benign in appearance and removed during the procedure with the bigger one needing to be chopped up to get it out. Fun!

Now it’s not my first rodeo, I had two benign polyps removed in 2008 but my follow up recommendation after that one was five years (yeah I was way overdue oops). This time, different doctor is recommending a year and I’m like what? A year!?! Yuck!

So question is, why? I’m not sure I’ve seen another person post about a year follow up, I was expecting three or five or ten which seems to be typical. Is this a new recommendation? I’ll do it again in a year but man I don’t want to lol.

EDIT: u/buntingbilly got it! After doing some reading I found out when you have a piecemeal polypectomy there’s a 10-30% chance of recurrence at the site. So those patients go back 6-12 months later to make sure everything is gone. Hope this helps someone else who was wondering!

Spicy Thai Kitchen

We’ve been ordering from their Marysville location for a while and now they have a location in Fort Gratiot and I’m so happy! It is so good, if you haven’t tried it you should go!
