This is the setup they gave me with her. She is 5 years old, but she’s VERY small. They gave me a heat lamp that doesn’t even work, and she has inadequate hides, substrate, water bowl is filthy etc.
I do small animal rescue. I’ve kept many reptiles, but never a snake. I am reading all the guides but I would really love some concise, easy tips to make her happy.
Can I use a regular heating pad on high or does it have to be for reptiles? As long as it meets the temp requirements is that alright?
What strength for the heat lamp? And it should be halogen right? And what strength uvb?
I keep my apartment air conditioned so I am worried about the poor girl.
I have a new rescued racing pigeon with severe coccidia. Bloody stool, lethargy. I am a wildlife rehabber specializing in small mammals working with guidance from bird rehabbers but not sure what dosing to use for this poor girl. She’s not drinking right now so I need to give it orally. I know how to administer oral meds to birds. Thanks!
I’m a wildlife rehabber who primarily does mammals but I have an injured racing pigeon. She was injured by a dog and appears to possibly have some paralysis of one of her back legs (x rays showed no fractures) I have to get her on steroids and antibiotics. I don’t have any injectable meds, a bird rehabber told me to do only injectables for birds, but I have oral. Is that okay? Do you guys have experience with that? Thanks
I get this thing sometimes where my stomach will be super off, I feel acid in my chest and esophagus, and then I get EXTREME nausea that lasts all night with some vomiting. It’s fucking agonizing. I was diagnosed with GERD and gastritis. I didn’t even eat anything spicy, which is usually what triggers it. I feel so frustrated. I’m also lightheaded with some dizzy spells rn. I took tums and it didn’t help at all. I just took omeprazole and I had my Pepcid this morning. My diet is normal and I only drink water. I did have pure leaf honey green tea today though which I never really drink, and some grate last night which I also don’t partake in often. Last night, my GI upset started where I was having gas pains, feeling like diarrhea, and gas. Today I’ve had bad malaise, lightheadedness, bloating, etc.
Do you guys have any tips on how to kick these episodes to the curb? I take zofran for the nausea. Sometimes it doesn’t even work though. I have emetophobia from these episodes because they’re so bad and uncomfortable, so I’m very anxious.
Is it common for people with Eds to have low ferritin? Is it related to the gastrointestinal issues? Idk what to do about it. Mine is 20
