Ineos is doing a neat 50 state meet-up program and I was lucky enough to attend the #4 one in GA today. we had 3 corporate folks join us and about 10 or 12 local rigs. Great day with a great group.

My mother in law and father in law on the left with friends in 1948.

Olin was a WWII (Pacific) vet who’d returned home and met my MIL in 1947. Married in 1948 they were together until his death 2006. My MIL was a very proud of the house they purchased in 1949 and that she lived in until she passed in 2019. The couple next to them were lifelong friends.

1956, the day my mom met my dad.

My dad was Marine Corps swim instructor at Parris Island and mom’s older brother was there in the summer of 1956 serving as a court reporter for the investigation and court martial arising out of the Ribbon Creek Incident. In fact, my dad became part of an expanded training department due to that event. But my mom’s older brother and wife were staying on the base and my mom’s SIL was pregnant so mom, who was 17 at the time, came with them to babysit her niece. My aunt snapped this picture as mom was taking her niece to her 1st swimming lesson, where dad was the instructor. I’m lucky enough to still have her in my life today as she’s in her later 80’s - and still doing great.
