Was HvP the best ever?

During TCAP, Chris was still working out the bugs. In the more recent Takedown, the stings have suffered from reaching for low-hanging fruit - prostitution Johns, using 15 year old decoys just months from legal age, arrests prior to Chris' interview, etc.

However, HvP was some kind of artistic crescendo, even though it was only one brief sting operation in Hartford, CT. Both the decoys and Chris had wide-ranging dialogues with perps before the arrest. Decoy "Bailey" was brilliant at playing an anxious teen - no implausible "picture me naked and come inside" nonsense. Even though this subreddit is titled TCAP, most of the posts seem to be about HvP alumni Sokol, Dupee, Buchanan, Lawrence, Colon, Gentile, Manzi, Ambriosio, etc. (The only failure of HvP was the use of a middle-aged male decoy pretending to be a 13 year old.)

Question is, if HvP was so great, why can't Takedown move in that direction?

Utah v Richin: Could better defense lawyer have helped?

I just rewatched the 1st bail hearing where Kouri was represented by Skye Lazaro:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-sMOPBXTkA&t=11015s

Lazaro was quite smooth and had a good rapport with Judge Mrazik. The Judge seemed to regard her as a serious attorney. In contrast, Kathy Nestor's bull-in-the-china-shop approach seemed to rub everyone the wrong way. I could see the Judge's exasperation with Nestor at times.

I'm not suggesting Lazaro could have gotten Kouri off, as the evidence is the evidence. However, I wonder if Lazaro could have persuaded the Judge to give Kouri something shy of LWOP.

Richins v Utah: Facing LWOP as a 36 year old

I can't imagine getting a life sentence at 36 years old.

I mean, in 50 years when she's at the end of her life at 86 years old, Kouri's sons will be using senior discounts, drivable cars a distant memory, Barron Trump's 2nd daughter running for President, Lebron finally retiring, etc, etc.

I don't think I could face the next half century in a prison cell.

Has a predator ever reformed publicly?

Of all the TCAP and HvP perps, has anyone ever acknowledged publicly after the sting that they had a problem?

There have been predators who successfully rebuilt their professional lives (Babst), predators who expressed public contempt toward Chris Hansen and the stings (C Edgar), predators who killed themselves largely due to the sting's aftermath (Wolin), predators who immediately reoffended (Wofford), predators who fled the US (M Vestal to Guatemala), predators who fled post-sting back to their native countries (Abhilash Bhaskaran to India) or were deported (Marvin Lakhan to Trinidad & Tobago).

However, has a predator ever gone public with an acknowledgement of their crimes and explanation of a healing process undergoing counseling in order to change their lives?

Richins v Utah: Does Anyone Ever Take Responsibility While Incarcerated?

Unsurprisingly, Kouri continued to maintain her innocence at sentencing.

No doubt there are some wrongly convicted murderers. In these cases, it makes sense that the convict takes no responsibility for something he/she didn't do.

However, most juries get it right. After all, it takes a unanimous verdict to convict. Assuming Kouri is guilty, how likely is it that someone in her situation will evolve while in prison to the point where she acknowledges their guilt? Does this ever happen, or is it more likely someone like Kouri will live out the next 50 years in prison maintaining her innocence? I would think it might be liberating for a murderer to just come clean.

Help me resolve my ceremony nightmare.

OK, this is embarrassing. My FH is extremely well endowed, probably more so than 98% of men. I don't want to go into details but think tennis ball can, ok?

He's a very sexual person and gets a lot of erections when he sees me, which is normal of course. I've picked a strapless bodice lace wedding gown with plunging neckline open till navel. Really love it. However, given that it's one of the sexier (but totally tasteful!) wedding gowns, I'm afraid my FH will have a huge erection in front of the crowd, especially since it'll be the 1st time he sees me in the gown (tradition). Could be quite the spectacle. He says he think he can control it, but I'm not confident.

Best solution? Can we do the ceremony without turning sideways to the guests? Or maybe put a strategic table or flower arrangement blocking our lower halves?

Did they drop case against Mahl due to botched interview?

https://preview.redd.it/jmstd29f211h1.png?width=456&format=png&auto=webp&s=3b4127498f47688b6086fe388294cbd009ef20e0

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/soliciting-minor-child-porn-charges-211826278.html

It looks like Matt Mahl will walk with no charges. Doubt he'll continue on the DC police force but he escapes prosecution.

Hopefully, we'll find out why charges were dropped. As has been discussed here, Takedown flaunts the law/Constitution in ways that TCAP/HvP generally did not. The failure of police to halt Chris' interview after Mahl turned to them and said he was asserting his 5th Amendment rights is textbook inept police work. Chris even belittled Wahl for wanting legal representation. I imagine the clip will now be shown in police academies throughout the US as a "how not to" example.

I also believe it's safer from a conviction standpoint not to suggest the decoy is a few months shy of the legal age of consent. Mahl could claim he would wait out the last few months (although he did already send pornographic images).

Of course, Mahl will never escape the Internet.

Canon is a worthwhile stock for value investors who like a stable dividend. Currently pays over 4% with a payout ratio of under 50%.

Many see CAJPY as a value trap, since share price has really gone nowhere in decades. However, it has a very solid and varied lineup of products, enabling the company to steadily increase semiannual dividends. I believe it will eventually move permanently higher.

While Canon is best known for cameras and printers, it is a major player in digital imaging, having bought Toshiba's medical division in 2016. It's MRI machines have a devoted following. With aging populations, medical equipment can propel a lot of the company's growth.

Also noteworthy, Canon is probably the closest thing ASML has to a competitor with its "nanoimprint lithography" system. OK, it's a very, very distant competitor to ASML's dominance, but even small market share could contribute to growth or buyout by another potential competitor.

In sum, I don't think CAJPY is a potential 10-bagger. However, for patient investors who value a steady dividend while waiting for growth, Canon is not an awful choice.
