Project Descriptions disappointingly underpowered

I was hoping that the new Project Descriptions feature would be a replacement for the trick of using an un-completable tasks to add project notes. I presumed you'd be able to edit it in-line and it would be a multi-line box that could include markdown etc. The editor lets you do this, but then removes all line breaks and formatting when you close it and view the project, rendering it pointless.

I currently keep separate project notes in Obsidian and was hoping I'd be able to retire this practice but I guess I won't be able to for now. Hopefully they will improve on this feature. Anyone else feel this way?

E42 - Very Inconsistent Movement Notifications

TL;DR: What this all boils down to is that movement notifications work absolutely fine when the flashing white light "light alarm" is enabled. As soon as I disable that, because I don't want a flashing white light every time, the motion detection notifications stop working too.

I have just bought an E42 and thought I would test it inside the house a bit to get familiar with it, before mounting it to a wall outside. I have been struggling to get it consistently notify me when movement is detected. Here's my current configuration:

  • Phone is a Pixel 9 Pro XL, fully up to date with Android updates
  • Enabled all notifications for the app in Android settings, including the option to override Do Not Disturb
  • Given the app permission to run in the background as requested and disabled battery optimisations for it to prevent Android killing it. When I switch away from the app, I get a message telling me it's running in the background
  • Enabled motion detection for all movements on the camera, not just vehicles or pets
  • Camera is in the same room as the router for now, to ensure a good WiFi connection
  • Camera is fully charged with a power bank connected to the charge port
  • The camera is a room where nobody else is. Every now and then, i walk into the room to check if it notifies me or no
  • Camera is in Home mode and set to notify when motion detected
  • Camera seems to be consistently online with no problems streaming video

And this is the behaviour I've observed:

  • When I put the camera in motion detection TEST mode, the red light consistently lights up whenever I move, so the camera seems to be detecting motion ok
  • If I have the app actually open in the foreground on my phone, I seem to get movement notifications ok
  • When I switch away from the app and it's in the background or my phone is in my pocket, I mostly stop getting movement notifications when I walk into the room with the camera. I occasionally get one, but it's not consistent. Opening the app seems to "revive" it a bit, then after an notification or two, it will stop notifying me
  • This is an odd thing: I wasn't sure if the camera was failing to detect movement, or detecting movement but failing to notify me. So I turned on the "light alarm" in the Home profile so that it would also light up while lights while detecting movement. For the next couple of hours, while this setting was turned on, notifications worked consistently. Every time I walked into the room, the white lights would come on and I'd get a notification almost immediately, whether I had the app open or not. After testing this thoroughly, I then turned off the light alarm again, and this was the ONLY setting I changed. Since then, it's gone back to not notifying me when I walk in the room.

My main suspicion was that Android was killing the pap in the background, although I'd done everything I can to prevent that, but then the fact that turning on the light alarm seemed to make the notifications consistent makes me thing the problem is the camera as this seems like buggy behaviour.

At this point I've read all the troubleshooting guides, checked and double-checked every setting I can think of, restarted my phone, restarted the camera, and I'm at a dead loss. I'm about to conclude that this is simply a bad buggy product (especially given the thing with the light alarm) and return it and try another brand. But I'd rather not have the hassle of that so please, someone help me!

Anyone have experience with compact brushless motor pumps like Ride Engine Air Box, Airbank Pulse Pro, etc?

For a while I've been on the look-out for a pump that has enough juice to pump up two boards with enough left over for occasional top-ups (in case I need to let a little air out when the board is in the sun), and is small enough to take with me in a dry-bag. It seemed like these two things were incompatible, needing something like the Shark 3 for capacity, which is too big for this purpose really as far as I can tell.

Recently I came across this generation of more compact pumps pumps using higher voltage and brushless motors such as the Ride Engine Air Box, Airbank Pulse Pro, etc. At first glance it would seem that they wouldn't have enough capacity, with battery sizes in the 4-5000 mAh range as opposed to something lke the 7400mAh of the Shark 3, but when you consider that these also operate at a higher voltage of around 15V as opposed to around 12V, and look at the capacity in terms of power output taking the voltage into account, i.e. calculating in Watt-Hours, they are actually closer to the larger pumps than they first appear in terms of how much work they can do. In addition to this, these motors are supposedly 20-30% more efficient and less prone to thermal throttling.

So on paper it seems as though they may be able to get close to these larger pumps, but in a smaller package. However, all the reviews I can find seem to be from people using them for kites and wings. I've yet for find a solid review by someone using them for SUPs.

So, does anyone here have one of these pumps and would like to let me know their experiences?
