What to do with a baby who only wants to walk?

My almost 8 month old, active baby, gets into a crying fit and typically doesn’t stop unless I hold their hands and walk with them. They are a wobbly walker, not crawling, sitting, only putting to stand with my hands. They have a push walker but aren’t ready for that, and I am opposed to sit-in walkers.

Any tips on how to deal with them?

Removed pacifier for bedtime

I finally removed the pacifier for my baby’s night sleeping (today is night 3) as it was a sleep associations (still have it for naps). Baby is 7 months. Prior to removing my baby would get upset while I’m getting PJs and sleep sack on but would calm down with their pacifier. They also tend to get a bit cranky when I feed them too. But now they just cry hard before I put them in the crib without it.

Did anyone else experience this? How long did it last? Did you do anything else to calm them down?

7.5 month old - tips for nap training and an inconsistent sleepschedule

I have a 7.5 month old who is sensitive to being overtired and anything sleep related has been a struggle since they were born. I did sleep training around 6 months old using Ferber and they are now waking 1x a night (occasionally 2x - a big difference than 4-6x previously). I have been/still doing contact naps. Their schedule varies so much from day to day due to inconsistent morning wake up times (range from 5:15-7:00am) and bedtime also shifts due to nap lengths. They die best with a day start time based on when they wake up rather than when they are taken out of the crib. They are taking 3 naps with wake windows being a bit messy but generally are 2/2.25/2.25/2.5 (+/-15 minutes). I have tried extending them and that usually leads to an overtired baby making sleep worse.
I started sleep training for naps several times but ended up stopping for various reasons (too little sleep, got sick, etc). I am starting back up again using Ferber (modified because check-ins make crying worse). They can fall asleep within 10-20 minutes (typically) on their own with a bit of crying, but only sleep 30 minutes (sometimes waking happy and sometimes crying). I have been doing the 1st nap of the day so far. I will leave them in their crib for 10-15 minutes after they wake up to “help connect cycles”. The 2nd nap of the day (contact naps) tends to be 1.25-1.5 hours and 3rd nap is 30 minutes. They tend to be pretty cranky if they only get 1.5 hours of daytime sleep.

Any suggestions/tips on the best/quickest way to get independent naps longer and a more consistent morning wake-up, bedtime, and nap schedule without battling an overtired baby? I am open to any suggestions.
