Current events… 😆

Well, a couple questions regarding the “current events” of the day 😆

  1. What are the reactions of you and your fellow brother priests to the consecrations today?

  2. Obviously, you are all in communion with Rome, but are there any points that the SSPX raises that you’d particularly agree with, or, at the very least, points that make you think, “Hm, they have a point.”

  3. How should a Catholic act who sees this move of defiance as (obviously) extremely schismatic, but also thinks the Church has occassionally become too conforming to modernist ways?

Thanks!

Did anybody listen to that Bryce Crawford/Trent Horn podcast?

Not an avid Bryce Crawford listener, but I do love me some Trent Horn from time to time. It’s so cool to live in a period with so many people who genuinely explain the faith to everybody so well, and Trent is the best at that imo. Did anybody give it a listen?

Best opening three track run of Paul’s career?

Pretty self explanatory…out of all of Paul’s solo albums (no Beatles), what album has the best three opening tracks? For me, three albums come to mind: Band on the Run, Tug of War, and surprisingly, my favorite, Pipes of Peace. Pipes of Peace, Say Say Say, and The Other Me are all incredible, and they’re all so incredibly different. The obvious answer is Band on the Run, but for me, it’s Pipes of Peace.

Video games and sin

Not sure if this is allowed in here after reading the guidelines, but I’m not asking if something super specific is a mortal sin, so I figured I’d ask.

I’m seeing a lot of ads for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game, and I (23 y/o) was really looking forward to playing it with some of my buddies from college. I was curious, how does the church view games like GTA, call of duty, and others? Obviously, people can play games for a variety of reasons, but under the scope of entertainment when someone is playing it with no desire to partake in those actions in real life, what would be your guys’ view? Thanks! 😄

Opinions on St. JP2, others?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but what is the general consensus on this subreddit on “conservative” popes like St. John Paul, Benedict XVI, or St. Pius X? I’m a conservative Catholic myself (hope I’m allowed here lol) but I found Pope Francis (obviously considered “liberal” by most) to be a really great Pope who was portrayed incredibly uncharitably by conservative media (similar to Leo now, who would be “moderate”). Given JP2’s efforts against communism and socialism, what are this groups thoughts on him, and other “conservative” popes like Benedict XVI and Pius X? Thanks!

Possibly relocating to Smyrna late 2026/early 2027

Hey all -

I (23m) may be moving to Smyrna later in the year for work. While nothing is set in stone yet, it’s certainly a big possibility. I’m getting my feelers out now, and was just wondering what life is like down there for young adults? What are the best places to look for apartments? I don’t know anybody down there, so any tips on meeting new people/making friends would also be appreciated. Thanks!
