Relocating to Lyon - What do you wish you would've known beforehand?

As the title suggests!

I will be moving to Lyon and starting a new job in the city in December :) Maybe there are some things you can think of, that you wish you would've known to make the process of moving to and arriving in France, and specifically Lyon easier or more enjoyable.

Thanks for any and all advice in advance! :)

Collection agency after winning huurcommissie case and landlord not responding?

Hello everyone,

I recently won a huurcommissie case against my landlord for which the appeal period has now closed. Of course she is not responding to any of my messages/requests for payment, so I am not looking to send her a formal and final 14-day notice alongside possibly hiring a collection agency to handle this.

Does anyone have any experience they can share in this regard and a collection agency they can recommend working with? Not sure if it's relevant, but I have since moved away from the Netherlands - but still have my Dutch bank account, and my sister lives in the Netherlands so she could accept any mail for me if needed/helpful.

Thanks in advance for any help 🙏🏼

Rate my Itinerary! Solo 28-year old German heading to China for the first time (18 nights)

Can't wait! I already have all the apps, etc. set up and am currently finalizing my itinerary. I am looking to book mostly everything through trip.com for the added convenience (even if it is a bit more expensive)

I have the rough outline set that I think I want to follow - any recommendations for things I should consider changing or must-dos in the individual locations (sightseeing, museums, activities, food, etc.) would be much appreciated! I will be writing a detailed report after my trip to post here for all others who may embark on a similar journey after me.

My main focus for this trip is hopefully going to be cultural and historic immersion, spending long hours walking through streets, visiting museums, visiting significant sites, etc. maybe with an element of nature sprinkled in where appropriate and logical from a logistics point of view. I am not a party/drinking person, and physically rather fit (not unheard of to end up at 30-50k steps daily while exploring a new place) so my plan is to make most use of the time I have available to me, I will be travelling light (small backpack and a carry-on sized piece of luggage) so overall a fast-paced high intensity excursion maximizing the time available to me is essentially what I am going for. I understand it will be quite hot in China while I am there - suboptimal but this will also not be an issue for me as I have quite a bit of experience traveling with intense itineraries in extremely warm climates.

I would really appreciate anyone taking the time to give my plan/itinerary a look and provide feedback, advice and/or recommendations for what I am planning. If you paths cross happy to meet up for a coffee or dinner at any of my stops! 😄

----- Current plan -----

Tuesday, June 16th: Arrive in Shanghai from Kyoto (arrival around 2PM)

June 16-18: Shanghai

Thursday, June 18th: Ideally train (backup plane ticket booked given holiday weekend) from Shanghai Hongqiao -> Beijing South departing early afternoon

June 18-23: Beijing

Tuesday, June 23rd: Morning at forbidden city avoiding the weekend holiday crowds with 3PM train onwards to Pingyao Gucheng from Qinghe

June 23-24: Pingyao (staying in the old city for an evening stroll after arrival and a bit of morning exploration of Pingyao, from my understanding much more time here is not necessarily needed)

Wednesday, June 24th: Early afternoon train from Pingyao Gucheng to Xi'an North

June 24-27: Xi'An

Saturday, June 27th: late morning train from Xi'an to Chengdu

June 27-30: Chengdu

June 30: Late morning train from Chengdu to Chongqing

June 30-July 3: Chongqing (Thinking of including an overnight trip to Zhangjiajie booked on short notice depending on weather given that rainy season apparently can make this a hit or miss - my idea is to book a hotel in Chongqing for all nights, and if weather permits simply leave the Chongqing booking in place with one night "lost" that I then spend in Zhangjiajie. My onward flight from Chongqing is at 1AM on July 4th so I would head to the airport in the late evening of the 3rd of July)
