Some time ago you followed my Roku IPTV app — now I want to show you my Stremio client

Some time ago, a few of you here followed the development of my IPTV app for Roku.

Well... I ended up starting another project 😅

This time I’ve been working on a Stremio client for Roku, built with BrightScript + SceneGraph.

The idea started pretty simple: make Stremio catalogs and addons actually usable on Roku. As usual, I kept adding “just one more thing” and now it has:

  • support for adding your own Stremio addons through manifest.json
  • global search
  • movies, series, seasons and episodes
  • stream selection and automatic fallback
  • auto-next
  • Continue Watching
  • resume playback
  • My List
  • subtitle support
  • PC addon sync
  • a Stremio-inspired interface made for the Roku remote

One of the main things I wanted was to avoid locking the app to a fixed set of sources, so you can add your own compatible Stremio addons and use their catalogs, metadata and streams directly inside the Roku app.

I’ve also been working a lot on performance for huge series and on making playback recover better when a stream dies or gets stuck buffering.

There’s still a lot I want to improve, especially the UI, filters, metadata, live TV and overall polish.

The app is currently in Brazilian Portuguese, but I plan to add English later.

And yeah... sorry about the photo quality 😭
I took a picture of the TV with my phone, so it definitely doesn’t do the UI any favors.

Still testing everything on real Roku hardware, so there are definitely bugs left to hunt down.

Would love to hear what you guys think.

What would you add or improve next?

Built a Roku IPTV app and kept adding features until it became way bigger than I planned

Hey everyone,

I’ve been building a Roku IPTV/streaming app in BrightScript + SceneGraph, mostly as a personal project, and it kind of kept growing 😅

It started as a simple M3U player, but now it has live TV, movies, series, global search, favorites, Continue Watching, episode progress, auto next episode, season selection, mini-player, EPG support, profiles, settings, image caching/preloading, animations and a more streaming-style UI.

I’m also testing it with a pretty large catalog, so I’ve spent a lot of time trying to keep it fast and stable on real Roku hardware.

The app is currently in Brazilian Portuguese, since I’m Brazilian, but I plan to add English and more languages in the future.

There’s still a lot I want to improve, especially the TV guide, profiles, metadata and the overall design.

If you use Roku or develop for it, I’d love to hear what features you think would be worth adding next.

Anyone knows this tablet? Easytech E1035

Hey guys, I recently got gifted this absolute brick called Easytech E1035

I know it's not a very interesting tablet, but now I'm curious and want to mess around with it and see how far I can push it.

Has anyone here ever seen or heard of this thing before? I'd especially like to know if there's any way to root it, unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery/ROM, or basically do anything interesting with it.

I've looked around online but there's barely any useful information about this specific model.

If anyone has messed with one of these before, or has any idea what hardware/SoC it uses and where I should start, I'd really appreciate the help.

Figured this would be the right place to ask. Thanks!
