I built a Stremio-based Android app with richer metadata, add-on sync, and custom themes

I’ve just created an Android app based on Stremio. The main focus was to improve metadata, ratings, reviews, cast information, and the overall user experience while making playback as seamless as possible.

Now, when you open a movie, you can see detailed ratings, cast information, reviews, and its trailer.

To get the most out of the app, an MDBList API key is a must, as it provides additional metadata and offers much more reliable scrobbling than Trakt.

Bonus #1: I created 4 themes that I’m really happy with. I hope you like them too!

Bonus #2: You can now reorder, delete, and rename your lists directly within the app—just open the Lists section.

You can also import all your Stremio add-ons. If you sign in with your Google account, you can sync the app’s add-ons across your devices—just tap Send on the source device and Receive on the destination device.

Please give it a try! If you find any bugs, open an issue instead of reporting them only here, so they can be properly tracked. I’m also open to feature requests!

For mobile:

Requests and bug reports are very welcoming

TODO list, as requested:

  1. Add Trakt sync (Only scrobble? Need suggestions).
  2. Add an auto-update option so users don’t keep using outdated APK versions.
  3. Look into WE Trakr

Cinaura v1.7.1 release: See when a film finishes, improved search feature, local subtitle offsetting, and a bunch of bug fixes.

Keeping up the momentum after v1.7.0, I've been hard at work fixing some of the bug recently reported, and added a few small improvements while at it. As always, this release is available:

Here are the release notes for this version:

--------

🎉 New features

See when your film or episode will finish. The player now shows "Finishes at 22:45" next to play/pause, and it keeps sliding forward while you are paused, so the number is right when you come back. Turn it off in Settings, Preferences, Playback.

Search finds original titles, actors, and directors, and forgives typos. Searching "Gisaengchung" now finds Parasite, searching a director or an actor finds their films, and a mistyped title still returns the right result instead of an empty screen.

Jump straight from an episode to its show. Episodes opened from Recently Added now have a "Go to show" button on their details screen, so you can get to the rest of the series in one press.

Shift your own subtitle files into sync. Subtitle timing offset now works for subtitle files that sit alongside your video (.srt, .vtt and .ass), not just for subtitles downloaded in the app.

✨ Improvements

Messages now look like part of Cinaura. Confirmations and warnings appear as a themed banner in the bottom-right corner that stacks and clears itself, instead of the grey Android message pill.

Recently Added follows when the file appeared on your source. Rather than when Cinaura first saw it, so restoring a backup or adding several sources at once no longer shuffles the row into near-random order.

Network share setup says what went wrong. Adding a network share now shows the reason a connection fails instead of sitting on "Connecting..." or dead-ending with no way forward. Also better support for guest access.

Consistent confirmation dialogs. Every confirm prompt now uses the same design, so Cancel is always visible and the confirm button names the action, and the Options panel stays put behind the prompt instead of vanishing.

Tidier player controls. The play/pause button now lines up with the Chapters, Audio, Subtitles and Aspect buttons beside it, instead of appearing slightly higher.

🐛 Bug fixes

Your library no longer greys out when the network drops. Losing Wi-Fi mid-sync used to mark every source as failed with no way back. Now Cinaura recognises there is no connection, leaves your library alone, and reconnects your sources automatically when the network returns.

Fixed a crash when opening the app with no internet. Launching offline could close the app immediately on some devices.

Windows and NAS system folders no longer break scans. Folders like "System Volume Information" and "$RECYCLE.BIN" were being scanned, which left a permanent "Folder error" on some drives or brought back films you had deleted on your PC. They are now skipped.

Playback recovers instead of stopping with an error. Some TV boxes reported a playback error when returning to the player or partway into a film. Cinaura now recovers from it, errors during the exit back to the library are no longer shown at all, and the message you do see drops the raw error code.

The next episode no longer judders on auto play. Auto play next kept the correct refresh rate, so the next episode starts smooth instead of needing an exit and re-entry to fix it.

Files with a "+" in the name play again. Names like "DD+2.0" on network shares were stored with a space instead of the "+", so those files showed as unrecognized and refused to play.

Cards on the Android TV home screen open the right title. On a device with more than one profile, tapping a Cinaura card sent you to Home after picking a profile instead of the title you tapped.

Fixing a whole show's details merges episodes instead of duplicating them. Assigning a badly-named pack to a show you already have now merges the episodes into the existing seasons, rather than listing every episode twice.

Merging duplicates keeps your watched progress. Watched marks, resume positions and favourites are now carried over to the copy that survives a merge, instead of being lost with the duplicate.

Fixed a crash when saving progress for a title that had just been removed. Stopping playback of an item that background sync had already deleted could close the app.

--------

Also curious: for those that have started seeing the Cinaura dimensions appear in the app, what do you guys think of it? Any feedback welcome!

Feedback from users and Beta testers has been requesting the free trial be extended so it's now 7 days instead of 3.

Now you have plenty of time to try it across all your TV, Music and Mobile Streaming apps, browsers and media players.

Toggle it on and off to directly compare performance even if you're not currently buffering.

Now available on Android and Google TV - Multiview 1.5.0 - IPTV, cameras, Plex/Tablo/HDHomeRun DVR Library, and more

The same functionality recently released for iOS and Apple TV is now available in the Google Play Store for Android phones, tablets, Android TV, and Google TV.

Library: Browse and watch supported Plex movies, shows, episodes, and recordings, along with supported Tablo Gen 4 and HDHomeRun DVR recordings. Library content includes artwork, show and season browsing, playback progress, and resume support where available. Library management actions such as deleting recordings are not currently available.

IPTV: Add an M3U playlist or connect using Xtream Codes. M3U sources can also use optional XMLTV guide data.

Cameras and live feeds: Add compatible RTSP, RTSPS, HLS, HTTP, and HTTPS feeds. Supported ONVIF cameras can expose pan, tilt, and zoom controls when an ONVIF port is provided. Camera audio can also be continuously monitored in a multiview while another source remains selected for primary audio.

New navigation: Android phones and tablets now have separate Home, Guide, Library, and Layouts sections. The new Layouts page provides a dedicated place to create and manage saved multiview setups. Android TV and Google TV have also been reorganized around easier access to Home, Multiview, Guide, Library, and Settings.

Channel management: Channels can be favorited, hidden, and managed by source. This is especially useful for IPTV sources with large channel lineups. The Guide can also be filtered by category, source, or playlist group.

Multiview is a player rather than a content service. It does not provide channels, IPTV playlists, media, or subscriptions. You must connect sources and content that you’re authorized to access.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.multiview

Given this is a large update, feedback is especially welcome. Specifically interested to hear how the Library organization, IPTV and camera setup, channel management, and new navigation work with your particular combination of devices and sources. Large IPTV sources are likely to be a bigger source of feedback - please keep it coming.

Feature requests and bug reports are welcome. If reporting a problem, please include your device model and Android version when possible.

Behind the scenes: Core Builds Icon Pack v1.4.0 is live (500+ transparent icons for the sideload scene)

Hey Core Crew 👋

You know I spend most of my time deep in the backend logic of the Configurator, but my journey actually started in visual design and brand architecture. Naturally, staring at a TV launcher full of stretched, mismatched, or missing banners for our sideloaded apps was driving me insane.

So, behind the scenes, I've been working on a passion project to fix it.

Today, the Core Builds Icon Pack is officially jumping to v1.4.0. This is a massive update—expanding from 81 to 501 icons (with 901 mapped components).

✨ WHAT IS IN IT

• 501 transparent icons: Clean 16:9 banners at 320x180. Your launcher's card color shows through perfectly.

• Zero guesswork: Every component is read directly off real hardware or an APK manifest.

• In-app update check: It will now actively notify you when a new version is out.

• One-press apply: Works instantly for Projectivy, Nova, Lawnchair, Apex, and ADW.

📺 THE SIDELOAD LONG TAIL

Mainstream packs cover Netflix and Disney+ and then stop. The entire point of this release is the long tail—the actual apps this community sideloads.

We have covered: TiviMate, Janky, Strmr, DodoStream, CloudStream, Debrify, Lumera, Arvio, OwnTV, StreamVault, Wave TV, Strexo, SYNC, TV Bro, SAI, APKTime, Unlinked, Moonlight, Metrolist, AT4K, ChillHub, LTvLauncher, Monet, and hundreds more.

📥 DOWNLOAD & INSTALL

• Downloader Code: 5270601 (If you have the old v1.0.0 code pinned anywhere, please retire it!)

• GitHub: https://github.com/brevityA/CoreBuildsIconPack

Already installed? It will safely upgrade in place. We kept the exact same signing key and matching fingerprint, so there is no need to uninstall your previous version.

If you are missing an app on your homescreen, drop the package name in the comments and I will get it added!

The Ultimate brandnew IpTV player: Mert Stream TV

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on Mert Stream TV, a brand-new IPTV player designed specifically for Android TV, TV boxes, and Android phones. Just to be clear: Mert Stream TV does not provide, host, or sell any content. It is strictly a media player built to run your own personal M3U playlist, Stalker or Xtream Codes credentials. I originally decided to build Mert Stream because I was frustrated with the current options on the market.

Most of them: Feel like they haven't updated their UI since 2015. Run sluggishly on budget streaming sticks and lower-end TV hardware. Offer a frustrating, clunky navigation experience with standard TV remotes.

I wanted something clean, incredibly fast, and smart. Here is what Mert Stream brings to the table:

🚀 Key Features: Live TV, Movies & Series: Fully categorized with a modern, clean layout. Multi-Profile Support: Set up different profiles for family members. Extensive Codec Support: Playback is smooth and compatible with virtually any video format. Android TV Optimized: A true, native leanback experience built specifically for D-pad navigation. Lightweight & High Performance: Highly optimized code to ensure buttery-smooth navigation even on low-end TV hardware.

📥 Get It Now for Android TV and Phone

📥 Get It Now for Android Phone

Mert Stream is officially available on the Google Play Store for both mobile and TV devices.

[Arich player] Looking for Free testers and feedback for my app

I’ve been using IPTV players for a while and honestly got pretty tired of how many of them feel slow, cluttered or full of ads.

So I decided to build my own from scratch with Flutter.

That turned into ARICH Player, and v2 is now live. I’ve spent quite a lot of time redesigning the whole thing and adding some features I personally wanted to have in an IPTV player.

A few things in v2:

\- Clean UI with no ads

\- Offline VOD downloads

\- Watch2Gether for synced playback

\- A TikTok-style trailer feed (still beta)

\- PiP

\- EPG

\- Fast channel switching

I'm mainly posting here because I want some real feedback from people who actually use the app, especially on the UI, performance and general UX.

If you try it, I'd genuinely like to know what feels good, what feels annoying, what's missing, or if you run into any bugs. Don't hesitate to be critical, that's pretty much what I'm looking for 😅

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arich.iptv

Website: https://arich.fr

Just to clarify: ARICH Player is only a media player. It doesn't provide any IPTV content or streams.

Also, I'm French, so if you notice any weird translations or English that sounds a bit off in the app, please let me know 😂

Anyone know what happen to that cobra tv guy ?

Seen a post the other day and downloaded the cobra tv app have done lots of testing and wanted to message that guy but the post is gone anyone know how to contact him ? Or maybe he will see this ?

The app itself is really nice looking, I like the continue watching and the make your own favourite groups, I also like the sports hub but it took days to update ? but the news update was every day, scrolling is a little off on live like takes forever to get back to the top, I can record on my fire stick but my 2nd tv I can’t that doesn’t have a fire stick, reminders are good and I didn’t get to share anything with a friend because I don’t have any friends with the app.
(If anyone has the app can we friend each other and test the sharing) ?
All in all I’d say this is a 7/10 but still needs work.

Hope this helps and you see this cobra tv

I got tired of using different apps for live TV and personal media, so I built ChannelDeck

I’m the developer behind ChannelDeck. I started building it because I wanted one television-first app for live channels, movies, series, music, and my own media library without constantly jumping between unrelated apps. Anyone who streams.. knows exactly what I mean by that.

ChannelDeck began as an Android TV IPTV player, but it has grown into an ecosystem… way beyond your current app.. keep reading.. then judge that comment on head to head functionality and appearance.

The main ChannelDeck app handles live TV, movies, series, favorites, reminders, guide data, dvr, multi view and provider-supplied content that syncs your general settings and favorites across all of your devices. Setup one tv, install on your others, enter your provider login info, turn sync on and your done. It does not sell or provide channels. You connect your own legitimate M3U or Xtream Codes source…. Deck does the rest.

ChannelDeck Local is for people who keep media folders on local or network storage but don’t want to run, or know how to run, a separate media server. Point it at your folders and it builds a private visual library for you directly on the Android TV device. Have Plex or Emby? Tired of having to jump from your iptv player to those apps? You don't have to. You can even link your Plex or Emby account to Deck and have it populate your metadata for you.

Like lots of folks I used Plex and also Emby. I got tired of someones “Connection Server” being down and it stopped or delayed accessing my own media, in my own house, on my own servers. I’m not sure about you.. but I find that to be unacceptable.. along with the crazy monthly subscription amounts or one time charge that you can buy a new flat screen for. Not to mention you get about 15 connections then you’re capped and they know your login info. That had to end. So I ended it.

ChannelDeck Network is for people like me, who want a full personal media server. It runs on your own Linux system, organizes movies, television, and music, handles metadata and artwork, supports hardware transcoding, and can stream directly to authorized household devices, friends or family members and you get unlimited connections. Let me say that again.. UNLIMITED. If you want your brother in another country to be able to access and share your own media you can do it… along with whoever else you feel like giving access to. On any Android device they have. TV, tablet, phone, streaming device.. you get the picture) Remote playback travels directly between your server and that device. ChannelDeck does not operate a media relay or carry your personal media through our servers and we never capture personal information, passwords, login data, media data or anything else. Even your account password when you setup your ChannelDeck account is encrypted. Don’t email me telling me you forgot your password.. can’t help, because I can’t see it. I can re-set it and give you a temp that you will immediately have to change, and that becomes encrypted also. Privacy is the basis for this. Too many places and apps capture way to much stuff on way too many people.

ChannelDeck Mobile brings the television experience to Android phones, including live TV from your own provider and direct access to your ChannelDeck Network library. And when I say to your phone I literally mean it. Tired of apps that claim mobile then you see their mobile app, it looks ridiculous and operates like an old calculator from the 90’s. ChannelDeck Mobile is literally a clone of the TV app. The way it looks on the tv.. is the way it looks on your phone, both operationally and aesthetically. Even down to DVR.. Yep you can set a recording on your phone to your network storage… you read that right. We also recently started ChannelDeck Music, a dedicated phone and Android Auto music experience connected to your own Network music library. Music is still in active development and is not released yet.

This has been built through constant real-world testing on Android TV devices, phones, home servers, remote connections, and actual media libraries. I’m not interested in locking basic functionality behind endless subscriptions or collecting people’s viewing habits. The goal is straightforward ownership: your sources, your files, your server, and your household. That is what I expect.. and that is what Deck delivers.

I created [r/ChannelDeck](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChannelDeck/) for development updates, screenshots, setup help, feature discussions, and honest feedback. If this sounds like something you would use, I’d genuinely like to hear which part matters most to you and what you would expect it to do.

Does ChannelDeck have room to improve? Yep. I will be the first to say that. Nothing is perfect.. nothing. But I use real world input from real users, and real people, and put it into a platform that is better for us all… and I will continue to do so.

You can learn more at [channeldeck.online](http://channeldeck.online) ([https://channeldeck.online\](https://channeldeck.online/)), or join us at [r/ChannelDeck](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChannelDeck/).

ChannelDeck 1.0.33 and ChannelDeck Network for Windows are now available

ChannelDeck 1.0.33 is rolling out now, and the native Windows Server edition of ChannelDeck Network is officially available.

What’s new in ChannelDeck 1.0.33:

Movies, Series, and ChannelDeck Local or Network are now grouped at the top of the sidebar.

M3U playlist categories remain in the order supplied by your provider instead of being rearranged alphabetically.

Movie and Series rows on the Home screen now sort consistently with ChannelDeck Network.

Remote Network pairing requires only the eight-character code—no IP address or port entry.

Automatic playlist and EPG refresh defaults to 3:00 AM daily. You can select a different time under Maintenance.

Help information now explains pairing, automatic refresh, playlist ordering, and live stream quality display options.

ChannelDeck Network Windows Server edition

The Windows edition is a native Windows x64 program with a standard installer, Windows service, Program Files installation, native folder selection, and secure Windows credential storage.

It provides the same libraries, metadata management, artwork controls, transcoding, monitoring, remote access, and ChannelDeck account authorization as the Linux edition.

Windows download: https://channeldeck.online/downloads/ChannelDeck-Network-Setup-0.2.16.exe

The Linux Server edition remains available from: https://channeldeck.online/api/v1/downloads/network

ChannelDeck Network is the complete private media-server product. It is separate from the ChannelDeck Premium player upgrade. Network is NOT required to use ChannelDeck Premium Player.

No ChannelDeck product provides channels, playlists, subscriptions, movies, television shows, music, or other media content.
