9 months post ankle ORIF – still painful walking, hardware irritation?

Hey everyone,
I had ORIF for an ankle fracture on Nov 29, 2025 (so about 9 months ago now). Bone healing has been confirmed on X-rays, and I’ve been full weight-bearing without aids for a while. But I’m still dealing with pain while walking that’s frustrating me.
Current symptoms:
• Pain level around 6-7/10 every step of walking,
•Morning first step till night every step is painful
• Swelling by the end of the day, especially after longer walks.
• wheni lie down i dont feel pain
My surgeon mentioned the middle syndesmotic screw might break as part of normal healing, but the pain feels more like it’s coming from the plate area. I’ve tried icing, NSAIDs, and physio exercises, but it hasn’t fully resolved.
Has anyone been in a similar spot this far out?
• Did the pain fade on its own, or was it hardware irritation needing removal?
• How long after removal did you feel real relief?
• Any tips on pushing through vs. resting more?
I’m 36F, 160 cm, 94 kg, and otherwise healthy. Just want to know if this is “normal” at 9 months or if I should push harder for hardware removal. Thanks in advance for any stories or advice!

Excess saliva after copper id insertion anyone else? Feeling fed up, any solutions?

Excess saliva after Copper IUD insertion – anyone else?
Hi everyone,

I recently had a Copper T (copper IUD) inserted for birth control. Since then, I’ve been dealing with \*\*excess saliva / hypersalivation\*\*, which is really affecting my day-to-day life and making me feel quite fed up.

From what I’ve read, common Copper IUD side effects are heavier periods, cramping, and spotting, but I haven’t seen much about saliva issues. My doctor hasn’t given a clear explanation yet, and I’m trying to figure out if this could be related or if it’s something else going on.

Has anyone else experienced:
\- Increased saliva or drooling after getting a copper IUD?
\- Any theories, tests, or treatments that helped?
\- Did symptoms improve over time, or did you choose to remove the IUD?

Thanks in advance for any advice or support.

Female 37 trimollear ankle fracture 6 month out still pain in walking PLEASE HELP 😥🙏🏻

I’m 37F, about 6 months out from a trimalleolar ankle fracture surgery, and I’m still having pain while walking. Looking to hear from others who’ve gone through something similar.

I had ORIF surgery and followed the usual recovery path—non-weight bearing initially, then gradual weight bearing, and I’ve been doing physiotherapy regularly. My mobility has definitely improved compared to the early months, but I’m not anywhere close to “normal.”

The main issue is persistent pain when walking, especially after some distance or standing for longer periods. It’s not unbearable, but it’s enough to make me limp sometimes and avoid putting full weight confidently. There’s also occasional stiffness and mild swelling by the end of the day and at the start of the day

My doctor says healing looks okay on X-rays, but this lingering pain is really frustrating and makes me worry if something isn’t right.

For those who had a trimalleolar fracture:
- Did you still have pain at 6 months?
- How long did it take before walking felt normal again?
- Any tips that helped reduce pain or improve confidence while walking?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences—good or bad—just to understand what’s realistic at this stage.
