Curious for the people who date at Amazon how did it happen? What are your pros and cons? First I haven't dated anyone at a job since my first year in the Navy and that was a hard lesson learned lol. I'm at the point I can't deny the chemistry and connection 😩 should I just resign or transfer lol 🤣😭

I just learned of the "Back to Starbucks" initiative today as I watched two poor baristas struggle to keep up with a mountain of mobile orders and a line in-store waiting to order. A couple months back I had a very frustrating experience mobile ordering at my work location where I had to wait an actual hour for my drink to make it to the front of the queue. Haven't gotten a custom drink there since. After another similar experience today, I learned it is because there is this new requirement to serve in-store customers at a far higher priority that just seems impossible at peak hours without backlogging all mobile orders. And my work location always has like 6+ staff working and can't keep up.

What really grinds my geas though is that the Starbucks mobile app will tell customers that their order will be ready in 7-10 minutes if they order ahead which is just a plain lie at peak hours at many locations. And so baristas just end up with a store full of angry customers? Starbucks gets all the revenue of peak order volumes by lying to customers and letting baristas take the brunt of their frustrations? I even read baristas can't throttle mobile ordering? Is that true? If they wanted to create a true pleasant in-store experience they should make sure there is always some form of store manager present for order throughput management, customer order correction, etc.

Was genuinely disgusted watching two girls struggle while just being stared at by 20+ angry customers. Baristas I love you. I think you are the salt of the Earth and I think you deserve so much better. Starbucks should allow you to throttle mobile ordering as necessary or AT LEAST the mobile app should tell the truth to customers about how long their drinks will take prior to ordering. And to other customers, please be kind to your baristas. It's RARELY their fault. I hope all the shareholders and execs who came up with this abysmal initiative and who are exploiting their baristas nothing but investment ruin and job loss. I'll be voting for it with my wallet.

Sorry I am fired up.

For those who live here now or have lived here before — what caught you off guard (good or bad)?

Could be cost of living, neighborhoods, food, weather, people, whatever.

I talk to a lot of people moving here and there are always a few things they don’t expect — curious what stands out to locals.
