The power of a good education
I have been reading a lot of interesting conversations around an MBA from new IIMs , whether ROI is good , is it worthwhile etc etc. Today I was scrolling through my LinkedIn and saw a post from one of my batchmates at IIM Trichy . Well the difference of my age and his may be like 20 years or something since I joined T for a PhD at age 41 in 2013 and he was a PGP student. We sat in the same class for a year because I did my course work with PGP . This guy was an English literature graduate and looked quite laid back . He could conversate very well but was an average student. He unfortunately had some medical issues also. I read that he has now joined Infosys Germany as a Director. From a person who was an average Joe that too from a non technical background to a great position in Technical sales in a top IT services company speaks volumes about an MBA degree from a good IIM . I always have and will regard any IIM ,be it A or Guwahati, to be very focused on academics and providing a decent education. In my honest view placements are secondary, they will happen, but the rigour you get at an IIM is world class. Just wanted to share this .
PS : I did my MBA from DOMS IITR , a very good B School. I too worked in Infosys for a few years in international assignments and then retired earlier at 38 years of age . Tried my hand at a PhD but it was not my cup of tea , though I achieved good cgpa in my year 1 at Trichy ( around 3.2/4 something)
