2014 Silverado 1500 LT 4x4 - $8,800 with 112k miles. Good deal or too good to be true?

Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for a truck without completely breaking the bank. I’ve been looking at Sierras, F-150s, and Tundras, but I came across this 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Double Cab LT 4x4 for $8,800 with 111,995 miles. clean title, no accidents, All Star Edition with towing package, navigation, heated seats, backup camera, etc.
I don’t know much about Chevys, so I’m hoping you guys can give me some real talk. I’ve read about the common lifter/cam failure on the 5.3L and transmission issues, but not much else. The price seems like a solid deal compared to similar trucks, but I’m wondering if it’s too good to be true.
I just messaged the seller these questions and I’m waiting to hear back:
• Service records? Especially oil changes and any transmission service?
• Any issues with the lifters, cam, or AFM on the 5.3? Has it been disabled?
• Any transmission problems or shuddering?
• How’s the rust situation underneath (frame, rockers, etc.)? NJ trucks can get bad — any underbody pics?
• Reason for selling?
• Any other known issues or recent repairs?
• More pics of engine bay, interior, bed, and underside?
Any advice would be appreciated. Is 112k miles too high for this truck? Should I walk away, negotiate harder, or jump on it if the PPI checks out? Thanks in advance!

Looking for reliable used SUV/Pickup under $15k to run into the ground

Hey r/WhatCarShouldIBuy,

I’m in the market for a used SUV or pickup under $15k that I can drive hard for the next several years. No sedans — I need something spacious because my partner and I are planning to start a family in the next year or two, and we’re also buying a house soon. Reliability and safety are my top priorities since I want something I don’t have to worry about.
I’ve been focusing on Honda, Acura, Toyota, and Lexus because of their legendary reliability and longevity. I’ve been searching on Carfax, Cars.com, CarEdge, CarGurus, etc., and I’m seeing a decent number of options in those brands, but I’m also coming across a lot of Ford Escapes and some Mitsubishi Outlanders in my price range with reasonable miles (many Escapes and Outlanders under 40-100k).

A few specific questions:
• Ford Escape (especially 2013-2019 models): Are these actually reliable enough to run into the ground? I keep seeing them pop up at good prices. What are the common problems (transmission, engine, electronics, rust, etc.)? Has anyone owned one long-term and put serious miles on it?
• Mitsubishi Outlander: These seem like a good value with lower miles for the money, but I basically never hear anyone talk about them. Are they reliable? Any major known issues? How do they hold up over time?

I’ve already done my own research on reliability ratings, recalls, etc., but Reddit is usually the best place for real-world owner experiences. Bonus if you have thoughts on safety ratings, interior space for car seats/strollers, cargo room, or fuel economy.
Budget is firm under $15k (ideally with some room left for repairs/maintenance). I’m in the Northeast so rust is a concern. Any other underrated reliable SUVs or pickups I should be looking at in this budget?

Thanks in advance — really appreciate the help!
(Will update with what I end up getting)
